Dr. Deborah Shropshire To Speak in OKC

October 9th noon-1pm Dr. Deborah Shropshire will be presenting at the Oklahoma History Museum in Oklahoma City during a FREE & OPEN to the public series brought to you by OKDHS.

Children in foster care have higher rates of disease than their peers, and as a group they experience poorer health and social outcomes as adults.  Can these outcomes be changed?

Deb Shropshire is a pediatrician with OU Children's Physicians in Oklahoma City.  She provides medical care to children at the Pauline Mayer foster shelter and in the Fostering Hope clinic at OU, and also serves as the medical director for foster care for OKDHS, assisting case workers, working on projects related to foster health issues, and providing training on the health of foster kids.  She loves to engage her audience in the story of foster kids, and to encourage others to "speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves".

Found Causes

We are so excited to be featured on the upcoming Foster Care Special on OKC's Channel 9's Found Causes on October 13th at 6:30pm. Set your DVR, invite friends and watch together. Then discuss where you can serve in the orphan crisis of Oklahoma.

Found Causes will be featuring us along with some of our Impact Partners like, Citizens Caring for Children, Angel's Foster Family Network. Our board member & Executive Director, Guy & Lisa Feist will share some of their family's foster and adoption journey also. It promises to be a very touching look into foster care and the precious children and families effected by it.

Emergency Kinship Support

In September, we helped expedite the placement of
many children out of the shelter and into kinship homes. We provided more than 25 beds, and many car seats. This is possible because of our partnerships with The Hub Mission Ministry & The Spero Project and YOU thru donations of food, beds, cribs and safety equipment.

Email Kristy at OKFW.emerkinship@gmail.com to coordinate your donation delivery of a bed or crib.
