May 20-22

All those interested, are encouraged to join other aviation professionals from regulatory authorities, accident investigation bodies, manufacturers, airlines, training schools, international organisations, and members of the research and academic community to examine new standards, regulatory and operational approaches, human performance research, technological developments and training methods to address LOCI.

ATAC Welcomes TC Initiative to Amend Flight Attendant Requirements

For many years and in particular since the turn of the 21st century, ATAC has advocated for the ability of airlines to choose between two equally proven safe methodologies in determining the number of flight attendants to be carried on board transport category aircraft operating under CAR Part 705. ATAC has proven time and again the equivalent level of safety provided under the current Canadian 1:40 ratio and the US 1:50 ratio with its additional requirements. In light of this ATAC is very happy to see the recent initiative by TC to produce a Notice of Proposed Amendment (NPA) in this vein and to see it move forward as quickly as possible so that Canadian airlines can finally operate on an even playing field with US and the European airlines!

ATAC Industry Partners @ RAA 2014

ATAC and several of our industry partners recently participated in the 2014 Regional Airlines Association (RAA) convention and trade show in St. Louis, MO. ATAC facilitated a networking event and B2B meetings with customers.

Annual Fuel Efficiency/Emissions
Data Gathering

We have received fuel efficiency data for the calendar year 2013 as part of ATAC's annual input into the reporting for Canada's Action Plan to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Aviation from many operators, some of them for the first time and from some sectors for the first time. However, we encourage those of you that have not already done so to please forward to Les Aalders your 2013 data as soon as possible.

CTA Announces New Interline Baggage Rules

The Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) issued a decision and an interpretation note on April 15, 2014 regarding a new Interline Baggage Rule. This rule would apply to flights originating or terminating in Canada. The intent is to standardize and make transparent what rules a passenger faces when taking an interline flight. ATAC was pleased to see the CTA essentially adopt the existing U.S. rule.
