New Rules Aim to Strengthen Canada's Status as Destination of Choice
Canada's reputation as the destination of choice for prospective international students will be strengthened by new Citizenship and Immigration Canada regulation that will take effect on June 1, 2014. The regulation will improve services to genuine students while protecting Canada's international reputation for high quality education and reduced fraud. For flight schools hosting international students, this will mean registering before June 1, 2014 with the provincial ministries of education to insure inclusion on the designated list of educational institutions to receive international students. For more information see media notice.

ATAC DFATD Singapore/China Mission identifies General Aviation Training Opportunity
Member companies supported by ATAC Vice President of Commercial General Aviation met with numerous General Aviation (GA) companies with the assistance of Trade commissioners in Singapore, Hong Kong and 3 cities in mainland China. The main topic of discussions centered on the opportunity for Canadian flight training companies to train professional pilots for the exploding Chinese GA market. Meeting with the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) Deputy Director General, Wang Jingling and his team have confirmed the regulatory construct to transfer the Canadian Licenses of Chinese pilots returning to China to fly GA aircraft. The CAAC confirmed that there will be a gradual release of airspace for general aviation aircraft in the next 1-5 years. ATAC's record of mission meetings and contacts will be available to members in the upcoming weeks.
