ATAC NEWS

January 21, 2014

ATAC's heading for 2014 is clearly set on a course towards resolving major member monetary, operational, technical, safety, security and training issues. The AGM last November provided a unique forum for members and ATAC staff to focus on current key issues, identifying irritants and drafting solutions.

Our Quarterly Member Conference Calls allow ATAC Members and Industry Partners the opportunity to keep informed of the latest developments and to offer input in the resolution process. The next call will be held on January 27 and we invite ATAC members to join us on this call. The list of issues discussed at these calls is released a week prior.

Involvement in ATAC is the best way to ensure that you reap the best benefits from your ATAC membership.

ATAC SMS Toolkit "Now rewritten for 2014"

The ATAC SMS Toolkit is a step by step guide on how to build a compliant SMS process that is commensurate with the size and complexity of your company. The original ATAC SMS Toolkit was provided to member companies in 2011 and presented to Transport Canada Regional Directors in the fall of 2012 with a briefing on the content. Based on comments by TC Directors that the Toolkit did not contain enough emphasis on Quality Assurance, the Toolkit has gone through several updates. The current version is a re-write of the Toolkit with more robust QA and improved work flows, simplifying the user experience.

The Transport Canada SMS experts have agreed to review the new version of the SMS Toolkit and will be providing their comments and suggestions to ATAC by the end of January 2014. TC feedback will be incorporated into the 2014 version of the Toolkit and then be sent via e-mail to all current ATAC member companies who are holding original copies of the old Toolkit and to any ATAC members who request it.

Mission to Singapore Airshow and China February 2014

The mission to Singapore will introduce Canadian Aerospace companies to prospective Asian partners and allow them to gain first-hand knowledge of the market environment. The planned activities will include one-on-one meetings, networking events and seminars. The focus will be on Canadian companies like FTUs to showcase their training capabilities to the Asian market. There are 10 companies participating in the mission representing a broad cross section of the Canadian aviation and aerospace industry.
