Making a Gift of Capital Assets

Giving can come in many forms. Almost anything you own can be a gift to charity. When your giving is not limited to cash, you may discover how easy it is to give to a cause and build a legacy.
The financial assets that can be used to establish a fund during your lifetime (a current gift) at The Catholic Foundation include cash, appreciated securities, closely held stock, real property, tangible personal property, mineral interests, life insurance, mutual funds, and qualified retirement plan assets.
By giving a capital asset to a qualified charity like The Catholic Foundation:
- You pay no capital gains or healthcare taxes.
- The asset is no longer part of your estate, possibly lowering estate taxes.
- You save the expenses of maintaining, insuring or repairing the asset.
- You receive an income tax deduction (up to 30% of adjusted gross income).
- You receive the satisfaction and joy of knowing your asset is going to help a worthy cause.
The Catholic Foundation is a resource as you plan your future and your legacy. Let us help. Contact Cheryl Unis Mansour or Michael George for help with developing a personal solution to meet your charitable goals.
