Northwest Iowa Local Food Summit
January 31, 10:00 a.m. -  2:30 p.m.

 

How do you cultivate food that is good for the economy and environment in your community? Food producers, consumers, community leaders, business owners, gardeners, and cooks: YOU have a voice in creating a vision for locally grown food! Help shape our regional food network, Flavors of Northwest Iowa, and create a sustainable plan for local food system development projects throughout the region. PLUS, learn about resources that can help grow your food/farming business and local economy.

Census of Agriculture Helps Measure the Local Food Movement

 

The Census remains the only source of uniform, comprehensive agricultural data for every county in the nation. Results from the prior Census were used in developing the Iowa Local Food and Farm Plan and to develop grant proposals related to local food production and distribution. Information from the Census also helps us promote agriculture and is used by companies, cooperatives, planners and lawmakers who serve Iowa farmers and communities - including federal, state and local governments, agribusinesses, trade associations and many others. Click here to read more...
