CONNECT with Biotechnology & Life Sciences Leaders June 13, 2013
  
The CONNECT CEOs will meet with corporate leaders in the Biotechnology & Life Sciences industries on June 13 at Bridgewater State University to discuss workforce needs and how companies and educational institutions can partner to ensure a skilled, qualified, and ready workforce.  Panelists will represent top southeastern Massachusetts Life Science companies: Organogenesis, PrimeraDX, and Smithers Viscient.
  
Attendees will learn about the Life Sciences/Biotechnology industries; changes in the industries resulting from technology, regulatory pressure, business development, or the competitive operating environment; current talent needs and how those needs may be changing in the next three to five years; and creating opportunities for educational institutions to work more collaboratively with industry to prepare students and align academic programs with employer needs.
  
This is the first in a CONNECT series of high level discussions promoting workforce alignment in southeastern Massachusetts.  The event is free and breakfast is included; however, registration is required. Click here to register.

Cape Cod Community College: Jazz Combo Concert

May 10, 2013, 7PM

Tilden Arts Main Theater

Under the theme "Music for the Summer Mind," this concert will include a wide variety of musical styles including jazz/rock, blues, swing, easy ballads, and Latin. The band will also feature popular songs including Saturday in the Park, Summer Samba, Breezin', String of Pearls, and Gershwin's Summer Time. The band consists of 12 student musicians with director Jerry Skelley on keyboards. Admission is free with donation of non-perishable food goods for local pantries. University of Massachusetts Dartmouth: Three Minute Thesis Competition

May 10, 2013, 2-5PM

Have you ever wondered what kind of graduate research is being done at UMass Dartmouth? Thirty graduate students from many disciplines will compete for cash prizes by presenting a summary of their creative thesis work in just three minutes. Cash prizes will include a $1,000 award for 1st place and a $250 prize for the people's choice, to be nominated by popular vote from those in attendance.  For more information contact Wendy M. Massasoit Community College: Rogue Writing Conference

May 23, 2013, 9AM-1PM

Southeastern Massachusetts composition and writing faculty are invited to this workshop filled with interaction and collegial conversations about ways to improve student progress in writing. Bridgewater State University: STEM Resource Fair for Educators

This FREE event is designed for all those who have vested interest in strengthening STEM education, from early childhood educators and K-12 teachers to representatives of business, government, and community organizations. Participate in hands-on STEM activities, gather STEM resources for your classroom, meet potential STEM partners, learn about professional development opportunities, and find out about summer programs for students. There will be over 50 activities and workshops led by STEM professionals representing business, school districts, colleges and universities, professional associations, and out-of-school programs. For more information on workshops and activities and to register, click here.

Bristol Community College: FRCTV becomes FRCMedia Services

BCC's Fall River Campus

Fall River Community Television has been housed at Bristol Community College for over ten years. FRCMedia has changed its name but not its location. The public access cable station will continue to cover local events but will serve the community even better with a new internet-based radio station, a redesigned website to better brand and reflect expanded public media services, an upgraded lighting system, new studio furniture, and Audible Local Ledger Service for visually impaired audiences.
