CONNECT Colleges Bringing More Kids a "Summer of Science"

Over a thousand of the region's school children will engage in enriching science and technology programs this summer, thanks to the public colleges and universities of Southeastern Massachusetts.

Children can learn what it's like to pilot airplanes at Bridgewater State University's ACE Aviation camp in New Bedford, or explore robotics and game design at Bristol Community College's Kids College or a camp sponsored by UMass Dartmouth's Computer and Information Science department.

Forensics and crime solving are at the center of Massasoit Community College's "Special Study of Biology" and Bridgewater's "Whale of a Mystery." Cape Cod youth are invited to join the "maker movement" to assemble junkbots, build simple circuits, and create batteries out of lemons. Environmental Science is the focus of Umass Dartmouth's "Earth Keepers" program. Massasoit Community College has multiplied its summer offerings from one to seven, with two of the camps housed at Plymouth North High School.
