PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Tim Howe, President
Southside Business Men's Club
(904) 813-8950

Have you seen the new SBMC website?!  No?  Well go to www.sbmcjax.com or www.southsidebusinessmensclub.com , either will take you to our all-new website.  Along with the fresh design (worthy of the 21st century), you will find this site much easier to navigate than the former.

The most important feature of this redesign is that the site is mobile responsive, rather than being a re-direct to the main site.  Your mobile device, once you login, will remember your password, and immediately take you to the member directory.

The first thing you will always want to do is to click at the top where it says: 'Members Login' or the square icon on the mobile.  This way, when you click 'Member Directory', or, on the main page 'Find a Member' or, you will have the full contact info of all current members.  Otherwise, you will only see very limited info of that person.  This is intended so that visitors of the site will see who our members are, but they cannot download or print our database.  YES, that's right!!  You as a valued member of SBMC are able to download and/or print off the entire SBMC directory.  Best of all: it's always current!

Someone asked me today about a member (ok, it was Friday when I wrote this).  I told them: 'go to the website, all the info is there'.  Since this person mentioned is a new member, she wouldn't have been in any printed directory, even for 2015.

You can edit your profile.  So, make sure your profile is up to date on the website.  Make sure you have a recent professional headshot included as well.

Much of the overall information is the same as before, but it has been organized for easier viewing.  In some cases, new and important information has been added.  Once logged in, you can now read our exciting SBMC By-Laws, Code of Conduct, and Annual Statement of Policy.  This should be comforting to those of you who thought we had no such directives.  Others of you, can confirm those boundaries you've been pushing.

Another easy-to-use feature of this site is your ability to pay your annual dues online.  You can even pay extra money to Club; we hold it in a nice non-interest bearing account, so you have the ability to eat on Wednesday, if you forgot your wallet/purse.  Pretty darn thoughtful, huh?

We've set this site up so you can pay for lunch at our meeting, sign up to volunteer and/or pay for any of our events, like: fishing trips, Jags tickets and tailgating party, etc.  Also, if you take photos of any of our events, you can upload them to our photo Gallery.

I really want to thank 1st V.P. Patrick Heatherington and Past President Jepp Walter for overseeing this project.  It may have been my passion to revamp the website, but it was Patrick, Jepp, and the good folks at Elyk Innovations (Joe Lemire and crew), who made it happen.

MONTHLY GOLF OUTING

FRIDAY, JUNE 19TH AT DEERCREEK COUNTRY CLUB

Our next SBMC monthly golf outing will be at Deercreek Country Club on Friday, June 19th, starting at 12:00 noon.

Cost per participant is $40.00 (+ tax) for green/cart fees and includes range balls for your warm-up. We'll have sequential tee times from 12:00 onwards and we have 32 spots available.

Deercreek is a member of our SBMC, so please support them by playing a round of golf. The course is familiar to many of you and was designed by Robert Miller and has been open since 1989. It's well known for its challenging carries and demanding doglegs.

Come join your fellow SBMC members and friends for a great round of golf in a unique environment! To reserve your spot(s) contact Nico Hogeveen at (904) 403-6754 or send an email to [email protected].

SERGEANT-AT-ARMS

There are 2015 spotlight speaker dates available!  The book is at the sign-in table at each meeting.

This is free to all members in good standing and gives you the opportunity to talk about your business, family, interests, or anything else you would like to talk about for five minutes.  You are also able to put out business cards, flyers, or informational materials on the tables to showcase your business.

Pick your date before they fill up!

We also ask for volunteers to help us start our meetings to get us thinking about what is really important and what is behind whatever success we have achieved - God and Country.

If you have a calling to lead us in prayer/invocation or the pledge of allegiance, please either call or sign up in the spotlight speaker book.
