Our group seems to like to work in themes, so I guess the theme this week is beer! Friday night was our VIP networking event at Jaxtoberfest at the Shipyards. It was fantastic socializing and networking with our members while enjoying frosty malt beverages. Continuing on that theme is the fact that this Wednesday is our annual Beer Tasting, courtesy of Dan Regenhardt, Assistant Brewmaster for the Anheuser-Busch Jacksonville Brewery. I have known Dan for a few years now, and he is an incredible expert on the four food groups (malt, yeast, hops, and barley.)

I would like to give a shout out to the Jaguars Tailgating Committee for all of their hard work last week. What a beautiful day for a tailgate! We were fortunate that the game chosen by the committee was competitive, against a former division rival, and during Jacksonville's 48 hours of fall. Only negatives were that the Jags lost, and that someone let a bunch of Steeler fans into the stadium.

Tomorrow is Columbus Day, a day celebrated by bankers and postal workers all around the country. So, I will leave you with a quote, and ask you to please remember that Madame President has the day off J

VETERANS DAY FLOAT
CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS!!!!

Construction is underway on our 2014 SBMC Veteran's Day Parade Float.  The float is dedicated to our nation's military service members, both active and Veterans alike, and commemorates those who have given the supreme sacrifice for this great nation.  We need your help Tuesday evening, October 14th, at 5:30pm at 3728 Philips Highway, Suite #304, and will meet on consecutive Tuesday evenings through November 4th, same place and time.

Note this is a new and more modern location.  The site is in the Central Park Office/Industrial complex on the west side of Philips Highway just south of Emerson Street.  Here is a link: https://goo.gl/maps/cTna5

Food and water will be provided. You are welcome to BYOB.  And bring a lawn chair if you'd like to sit for a spell.  YOUR PARTICIPATION IS VERY IMPORTANT AS THIS REQUIRES SEVERAL VOLUNTEERS EACH WEEK TO COMPLETE THE PROJECT. Additionally, it is fun work.

If you are a veteran and would like your name in The Book Of Valor sign on the float please contact Valerie Segraves at [email protected]    Cost is $10.00 per name.

And every time you volunteer your name goes into a hat.  There will be a drawing at the end for 2 Jaguar tickets and a parking pass!!!

We are also selling shirts and hats:  1 for $15.00 or 2 for $20.00.  They will be at the meetings and at the Tuesday night float construction.

Please contact the following members if you have any questions or interest in participating, or just SHOW UP!

Chairman:  Hal Smith, [email protected]
Co-Chair: Charles Armstrong, [email protected]

MEMBERSHIP

Membership News!!

MEMBERS NEEDED BY THE END OF THE YEAR:  36

Congratulations to Ramona Baldwin, the Q3 winner in our membership contest.  For her prize, she chose a $300 gift certificate to Kimberly Clarke Salon.  If you bring in the most members in the last quarter, you will win.  In the event of a tie, all those who tie will be put into a drawing.  Don't take your chances with a drawing, just bring in the most new members!

As members of this great Club, we all have a responsibility to ensure that not only does it continue, but that it thrives.  Do your part by bringing in at least one new member before the end of the year.  If everyone does their part, we will easily exceed our goal.  Thanks for all you do to support this Club.

Frank Wallmeyer,                                                                                           Membership Chair

SERGEANT AT ARMS
Do you feel a calling to lead us in our Invocation or Pledge of Allegiance?

We ask for volunteers to help us start our meetings to get us thinking about what is really important and what is behind whatever success we have achieved - God and Country.

Please sign up or contact me if you would like to help.

We also have some openings for spotlight speaker this fall.  This is free to our members in good standing and gives you the opportunity to talk about your business, family, interests, or anything else you would like to talk about for five minutes.  You are also able to put out business cards, flyers, or informational materials on the tables to showcase your business.

Pick your date before they fill up!
