 SOUTHSIDE BUSINESS MEN'S CLUB NEWSLETTER

Jacksonville Florida's Oldest Business and Civic Organization

Founded in 1932

PROGRAM for Wednesday, October 8, 2014

This club has long been concerned with issues facing our environment, specifically regarding the St Johns River, Water Usage impact on the aquifer, etc.  Currently there is an Amendment on the Ballot with regards to allocating some of the State's Doc Stamp revenue for environmental allocations indefinitely rather than having the legislature allocate revenue.  Additionally, it appears the Speaker of the House in Tallahassee intends  to take up some of these matters in the next session.  To that, Dr. A. Quinton White, Executive Director of the Marine Science Research Institute and Professor of Biology and Marine Science at Jacksonville University has agreed to speak tomorrow covering these topics.  Dr. White has spoken to the club on prior occasions, and more recently consulted with our Civic Affairs Committee on issues currently under discussion.  He asked we allot extra time for questions as he recalls Southside Business Men's Club being an engaging group with great interest in this area.  We hope to see you there!
