Summertime can really hurt our meeting attendance, but this week we had a guest speaker who is a tremendous draw! Thanks to Representative Ander Crenshaw, who represents Florida's Fourth Congressional District in the US House of Representatives, for joining us to tell us a little about his role as a member of the House Appropriations Committee and for giving us a legislative update. Representative Charles McBurney was our "Candidate Corner" speaker this past Wednesday as well. Fortunately, he had just wrapped up his role as Vice Chair of the House Select Committee on Redistricting; otherwise we would have had to keep those two gentlemen in their separate corners!

Special Programming Note to our members who have been around a few years: I DID NOT MAKE THE CONGRESSMAN'S MICROPHONE TURN OFF DURING HIS SPEECH ON PURPOSE! It really does seem like that only happens when we have a female President, doesn't it?

Members, please remember that early voting for the Primary Election has begun, and that Election Day is August 26th! Regardless of how you vote, I would like to encourage you to do so. We have a few of our members who are running for office, such as the aforementioned Hon. Charles McBurney for Florida House, District 16 as well as Paul Renner, who is running for Florida House District 15.

I will more than likely be missing you this week, as my "Real Job" may be calling me out of town. So please attend to support the First Gentleman and hear from our speaker, Cynthia Bioteau, President of FSCJ.

RIVER CRUISE
The River Cruise Party will be held on August 21 aboard the beautiful yacht, The Jacksonville Lady. There will be hot and cold hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar available for your favorite adult beverages, and  beautiful views of Jacksonville from the river. It is sure to be fun and entertaining.  The cost is $30.00 per person so see Dee or go on line to pay for your tickets today.  With all of the excitement,  fun,  and scuttlebutt about last year's cruise we expect this to be a sellout.  Rumor has it that with 40 tickets sold we may be able to offer a free drink or 2.

So come out, enjoy and network with the fabulous members of our great organization!

Hope to see you all there!
