Our speaker last week, Colleen Rodriguez from Jewish Family and Community Services really accomplished her stated goal: to have each of our members walk away from the meeting knowing new things about their great organization. My only knowledge about them was that they offered adoption services and foster care. I had no idea they were responsible for the well being of so many children and adults in our community. The stories she told us had touched many of our hearts, and I am so grateful for all the social services organizations in Jacksonville that care for those who cannot care for themselves.

We have so many fun things coming up in the next few months! From a tailgating themed Meet-A-Member to an actual Jaguars tailgate, there is definitely something for everyone. Now that summer is winding down and families are focusing on getting back to school, make sure you remember to make attending our meetings and events a part of your regular schedule.

Our speaker this week needs no introduction, but he's going to get one anyway. Hon. Ander Crenshaw will be joining us for a legislative update. I'll do my best to not adjust the volume on his microphone from the podium. (Folks that have been around since the Belinda Mitchell era will know exactly what I am talking about!) I look forward to his presentation, and to seeing all of your smiling faces on Wednesday.

The River Cruise Party will be held on August 21 aboard the beautiful yacht, The Jacksonville Lady. There will be hot and cold hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar available for your favorite adult beverages, and  beautiful views of Jacksonville from the river. It is sure to be fun and entertaining.  The cost is $30.00 per person so see Dee or go on line to pay for your tickets today.  With all of the excitement,  fun,  and scuttlebutt about last year's cruise we expect this to be a sellout.  Rumor has it that with 40 tickets sold we may be able to offer a free drink or 2.
So come out, enjoy and network with the fabulous members of our great organization!

Hope to see you all there!
