We seem to be working our way through the constitutional amendments that Florida voters will be deciding on in the next election! Last week we had the pleasure of hearing from J. Allison DeFoor II about the Florida Water and Land Conservation Initiative, which will be Amendment 1 on your ballot. In case you missed it, the official ballot summary reads as follows:
Funds the Land Acquisition Trust Fund to acquire, restore, improve, and manage conservation lands including wetlands and forests; fish and wildlife habitat; lands protecting water resources and drinking water sources, including the Everglades, and the water quality of rivers, lakes, and streams; beaches and shores; outdoor recreational lands; working farms and ranches; and historic or geologic sites, by dedicating 33 percent of net revenues from the existing excise tax on documents for 20 years.
Dr. DeFoor is the former vice chair of the Republican Party of Florida and former environmental advisor to Gov. Jeb Bush, and spoke in favor of the amendment.
Please join us this week to hear from Colleen Rodriguez, the Executive Director of Jewish and Family Services.

RIVER CRUISE
|
The River Cruise Party will be held on August 21 aboard the beautiful yacht, The Jacksonville Lady. There will be hot and cold hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar available for your favorite adult beverages, and beautiful views of Jacksonville from the river. It is sure to be fun and entertaining. The cost is $30.00 per person so see Dee or go on line to pay for your tickets today. With all of the excitement, fun, and scuttlebutt about last year's cruise we expect this to be a sellout. Rumor has it that with 40 tickets sold we may be able to offer a free drink or 2.
So come out, enjoy and network with the fabulous members of our great organization!
Hope to see you all there!
