Well, let's just say that last week's meeting was rather, well, spirited. Dr. Matthew Corrigan, Professor and Chair from the University of North Florida (swoop!) was our speaker, and the topic was the upcoming Medical Marijuana Amendment. Certainly the funniest moment of the meeting occurred when our speaker expressed concern that the line of questioning he was receiving was getting him "in the weeds." Obviously no pun was intended, but the comment was hilarious none the less.

The First Gentleman and I are looking forward to the Suns Tailgate this weekend. We are bringing some of our family along as well. (Would that make them part of the Royal Family? Perhaps not.) I can't wait to have some BBQ from The Stumbling Steer before heading into the game. Admittedly, baseball is NOT my favorite sport, but beer prices at Bragen Field are cheap and the company will be great. Thanks to the Tailgating Committee for putting this together.

Our speaker Wednesday is Mike Buresh, Chief Meteorologist for CBS47/FOX30. His presentation is important and timely considering the fact that the Atlantic Hurricane Season officially starts today! I hope to see you all at our luncheon meeting.

FISHING TRIP
Let's go fishing!!   This year will be our SIXTH annual fishing trip on the Mayport Princess.  The trip is on June 7th, and tickets go on sale starting TODAY for only $80 per person.  What does that give you, you ask?  It gets you one of the just 40 spots on the boat, plus more!

Just so you know, prices on all of the Party Fishing boats in the area went up this year, so the street price is $85 per person.  Well, thanks to Becky Hogan, an SBMC member and part owner of the Mayport Princess, we were able to keep the price at $80 for ONE more year!

Plus, it gets better!  Compliments of our club, we also supply everyone with a really nice boxed lunch from Honeybaked Hams, bottled water, soft drinks, and BEER!!  Did I say beer?  Yes, we do supply beer for you.

The 40 spots sell out every year, and this year will be no exception.  This trip has sold out in less than a week in the past, so don't hesitate.  Either pay on our website online, or pay Dee at the door.

Don't miss the boat!!
MEET-A-MEMBER
The next Meet-a-Member is Thursday, June 19th from 6-8p. Jeanne Maron and Howard Caplan invite you to enjoy a progressive M-a-M in St. Augustine! The fun starts at The Gifted Gourmet, 58 Spanish St. and ends at The Gifted Cork, 64 Hypolita St. This M-a-M is Hosted by Lewis, Longman & Walker; The Gifted Gourmet and The Gifted Cork. We will gnosh on tasty appetizers, drink yummy wine and hard cider and maybe win some cool door prizes and discounts. Guests are welcome! Tickets are on sale at the next meetings for $5 pp.

GOLF OUTING
Our June golf outing will be a special treat at one of the World Golf Village/World Golf Hall of Fame courses. Last year we played the King & Bear course, this year it's the Slammer & Squire. With course design input from PGA legends and Hall of Fame members Sam (The Slammer) Snead and Gene (The Squire) Sarazen this resort course offers views of the World Golf Hall of Fame from several holes and is distinguished by memorable par-3's, preserved woodlands, wetlands and natural beauty. Our date to play this excellent lay-out is Friday, June 27th and our shotgun start will be at 1:00PM. Thanks to the World Golf Hall of Fame being a fellow SBMC member we are able to keep the greens fee very competitive at $64.00 per participant (+tax), including range balls. We have room for 32 players, so get your tee-time quickly since this venue will fill up fast! Please contact Nico Hogeveen at 904-403-6754 or [email protected] to reserve your spot(s).
