PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Jepp Walter, SBMC 2013 President Jepp Walter, President
Southside Business Men's Club

(904) 838-8400

Last week at the meeting we had Ellen Leroy-Reed from One Spark!  It was very informative, and was exciting to hear about the potential growth of this event, and its impact it is having on the city.

Our annual Car Show was held at Hooters on Southside Blvd on Saturday, and it was once again a very successful event.  Thanks goes to 2nd Vice President Tim Howe, Chairman Desi Desiderio, and the rest of the committee, for putting on a wonderful event.

This week we will have our annual beer tasting, presented by Assistant Brewmaster Dan Naes from North Florida Sales (Budweiser).  It will be very educational, as you learn about how much work is put into the creation of a lot of beer brands that some of us are familiar with.  Getting to have some tastes of free beer is not a bad thing, either.

Bring your guests!  I'll see you this Wednesday.

VETERAN'S DAY FLOAT

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS!!!!

It is once again time to prepare our float entry for the 2013 Veteran's Day Parade in Downtown Jacksonville on November 11th.  The SBMC float is dedicated to our nation's military service members, both active and Veterans alike, and commemorates those who have given the supreme sacrifice for this great nation.  We need your help this Tuesday evening, October 29, 2013 at 5:30pm at 4115 University Blvd. W (in the warehouse under the bridge), and will meet on each consecutive Tuesday evening through November 4th, same place and time.  Food and beverages will be provided. You are welcome to BYOB.  YOUR PARTICIPATION IS VERY IMPORTANT AS THIS REQUIRES SEVERAL VOLUNTEERS EACH WEEK TO COMPLETE THE PROJECT!

Please contact the following members if you have any questions or interest in participating, or just SHOW UP!

Chairman:  Phil Rosebrock; [email protected]

Co-Chair: Hal Smith; [email protected]

3rd Vice President: Patrick Heatherington; [email protected]

SBMC 3rd ANNUAL CAR SHOW

A huge thanks to

NIMNICHT Chevrolet Fleet/Commercial Sales
for once again stepping up to be the title sponsor.

Silver Sponsors include: Bayview Collision Center, GolfTEC, Fidelity Bank, and new Club member Twelvolt LED and HID.

Thanks to all our volunteers (Desi and Dee in particular) for working tirelessly to put on a fantastic event!!

Thanks to everyone who donated items to the success of the silent auction and raffles segments.

And, thanks to our members who entered vehicles to showcase.

The Hooters Restaurant at Tinseltown provided a great location, the weather was perfect, and we had a huge turnout of show cars. This is an exciting event that can raise a lot of money for our Club, in one day.  It is recognized by the First Coast Car Council as a professionally run event, and we received many favorable reviews and support from local car enthusiasts!
