PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Jepp Walter, SBMC 2013 President Jepp Walter, President
Southside Business Men's Club

(904) 838-8400

Last week we had to shake things up, as the Mayor's schedule changed, and we found out about 20 minutes before the meeting started.  We worked it out, however, and filled up our time.  I'd like to thank Howard Caplan, our spotlight speaker from Lewis, Longman and Walker, P.A.  After some encouragement, Howard took some extra time with his spotlight to go into details on trademark and copyright law, and there were many questions answered.

We had our Social at the Southside Women's Club on Thursday, and attendees got a good indication of what all the buzz is about.  It is a beautiful building, and there are enormous possibilities.  I'd like to thank the Past Presidents for the food and refreshments provided, and also 3rd Vice President Patrick Heatherington for giving a good detailed synopsis of our thoughts as we prepare to move forward in a partnership with the ladies from Southside Women's Club.

This week our guest speaker will be Ellen Leroy-Reed from One Spark.  There has been SO much talk about this major event that occurred this year in Jacksonville, and how it has ballooned into an event the city will be proud of.  Have a great week everyone, and I hope to see you Wednesday.

VETERAN'S DAY FLOAT

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS!!!!

It is once again time to prepare our float entry for the 2013 Veteran's Day Parade in Downtown Jacksonville on November 11th.  The SBMC float is dedicated to our nation's military service members, both active and Veterans alike, and commemorates those who have given the supreme sacrifice for this great nation.  We need your help this Tuesday evening, October 22, 2013 at 5:30pm at 4115 University Blvd. W (in the warehouse under the bridge), and will meet on each consecutive Tuesday evening through November 4th, same place and time.  Food and beverages will be provided. You are welcome to BYOB.  YOUR PARTICIPATION IS VERY IMPORTANT AS THIS REQUIRES SEVERAL VOLUNTEERS EACH WEEK TO COMPLETE THE PROJECT!

Please contact the following members if you have any questions or interest in participating, or just SHOW UP!
