Last week was a wonderful day for us. We had many of our Past Presidents and their guests at our meeting, for the annual Past Presidents Day. If you missed it, we had an Honor Guard presentation, as well as a great reading by John Dietzen for the Passed Past Presidents. I'd like to thank Ramona Baldwin for chairing the event this year, and 3rd Vice President Patrick Heatherington for putting on a great event.
The Clay Shooting event was Saturday, we'll have a good write-up in the next newsletter, as details were not available at the time of scheduling this one for delivery.
This week we will have another very special day, our annual Military Appreciation Day. We will honor Veterans as well as active duty military. It will be a very special day, I hope you can all attend.

PAST PRESIDENT'S DAY

It was great to see so many of our past presidents at the meeting last week. Our thanks to them for helping make Southside Business Men's Club what it is today. If you were not at the meeting you missed a wonderful presentation. It all started with a flag ceremony conducted by cadets form the Robert E. Lee High School NJROTC, followed by a touching tribute to our "passed" Past Presidents and then a "Southside" story.
Thank you to those who helped with making 2013 Past President's Day special: John Dietzen, Barbara Murphy, Barbara Buzby, Crump Kirby, Jay Cann, Steve De Sorbo, Patrick Heatherington, Heather Corey, my husband Robert Baldwin, and some last minute recruits - the members who read the decades "passed" Presidents.
I would also like to thank Rose Jackson with LaMee Florist for donating the beautiful floral Center Pieces and the sweet pink carnation boutonni�res. In keeping with the club's fund raising traditions we were able to auction off the centerpieces with proceeds going to the club's charities fund.

Our next monthly golf outing is on Friday, September 20th at
Deerwood Country Club. This private club hosted several Greater Jacksonville Opens in the sixties and seventies, being the predecessor to today's PLAYERS Championship. Time for our much celebrated and never imitated,
SBMC JAGS TAILGATING PARTY 2013!
This year the event will be held Sunday, September 29th to watch the Jaguars 'break in' the Indianapolis Colts. The mere $40 per person covers: ticket to the game in a great block seating area, beer, Bloody Mary's, soda and water, BBQ catered by Players Grille, tented comfort along with the soon to be famous, John "The Hammer" Hamel Traveling Salvation Show and Music- DJ Extravaganza! Also, our very own Scott Schilbrack is going to be our bartender with some very special concoctions!!! Folks, you simply CANNOT get a better deal for the price. We will be partying under the SBMC Dome (tent) in style...game starts at 1:00 so the party starts @ 11:00 am! Bring your friends, clients, family, co workers, etc., but BRING THEM YOU MUST! Only 100 tickets available and they will be sold out fast! Purchase on line or stop by the friendly 'we will take your money as you come into the room' desk and pay the Accounting Team. To help us raise money, we are asking members to donate items for goodie-bags, silent auction, and Raffles! For $75 you can be a Silver Sponsor and have a 10x10 tent to display your company's wares (only a couple of spots remain)!
