Last week we had a great talk from Bill Braniff, and learned about 'planned construction' and 'unplanned construction'. It was eye opening to say the least. If you missed it, Bill talked about how his team had to jump into action when a racing truck plowed into a 'dryer truck'. The dryer truck is the one that goes around the track and dries it off after rain, and it blows the track with a JET ENGINE. Needless to say when the racing truck hit it, there was a spectacular explosion, and then jet fuel running everywhere. It was amazing to hear what all went into cleaning up the mess. Then Bill's colleague, Doug, got up and told us about a $400 Million expansion and rebuilding of the Daytona Speedway and the immediate surrounding area. It was exciting to hear about the amazing upgrades!
We had an awesome Meet a Member put on by Jack Manilla and Portofino Pools. It was held at Marywood, and if you missed it, the complex is quite amazing. Looks like a wonderful place to stay on the river, and see incredible sunsets. And we were able to give away TWO one night stays in the Bed and Breakfast there.
This week we will hear from Andy Johnson, local radio host, as he discusses the Better Jacksonville Plan. This should be quite informative, and will probably generate some good debate about the needed improvements to our city's highway system and other items as well.
I'll see you all Wednesday.
