PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Jepp Walter, SBMC 2013 President
Jepp Walter, President

Southside Business Men's Club

(904) 838-8400

We had a wonderfully attended meeting on June 12th.  Our speaker was our own Honorable Charles McBurney, who gave us an update on the happenings of our Florida legislature.  It was a very informative talk that also made you proud to be a Floridian.

We also received a check from Mike White with Client Focused Media for $5,000, for our efforts at the Craft Import Beer Fest.  This is easily the most amount of money we make in the least amount of time and effort.  I applaud Mike and his company for supporting our club and allowing us to be a part of this wonderful event.  I'd like to thank 2nd Vice President Tim Howe and his team for a wonderful accomplishment.  Tim reminded all of us that we can make the event even bigger, and raise even more money, in years to come.  Plan to be a part of this exciting fundraiser.

This week we will learn about the liabilities of an employer that may have employees texting while driving.  We will also have a visit from Pauline Smith, our first club secretary, as we award our largest college scholarship in her honor for this year.   Finally, there will be a wonderful presentation from Jay Cann & Rick Thompson on the results of our largest fundraiser, the YAP Golf Tournament.  Please plan to attend on the 19th, and invite your friends and acquaintances!  See you at the meeting.

MEMBERSHIP

A special Thanks to our membership for inviting friends and colleagues to join our club. All members are eligible to participate in and win our 2nd quarter membership drive contest. First prize is a Romantic over night away with dinner in St. Augustine. Second place is a special gift set of wine. Bring a guest to our next meeting and help our club help our community through our charitable endeavors.

So far, Denise Roth and Mike Russo are tied for the lead, with Arthur Rubin and Erin Eiras close on their heels! There is plenty of time to catch up, and now that our club's busiest month of the year is over, it's time to bring some visitors to our weekly meetings and recruit new members!
