PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Jepp Walter, SBMC 2013 President
Jepp Walter, President
Southside Business Men's Club

(904) 838-8400

Wow, what a week!  Last week of course was the majority of The Players Championship, with the Champion being named later on the date of this newsletter.  The weather was beautiful, and BOY did the crowds come out.  Reports of Volunteer and even General parking lots being full were rampant, as people showed how much they were tired of all the rain, and had something wonderful to do at such a beautiful setting.

My hat goes off to 3rd Vice President Patrick Heatherington, his Chairs, and the Day Captains, for managing such a huge event.  The new tent was VERY busy, and they handled the crowds very well.  Thanks goes to all of the volunteers for your time and energy spent!  That also goes for any of the volunteers for our other tent that we manage for other charities.  Some even helped at our tent when we were overwhelmed, and I really appreciate it.  If you know any of those people, please send them my thanks.

This week we have Bonnie Barnes, from the North Florida Land Trust, as our Guest Speaker.  The North Florida Land Trust conserves scenic, natural, agricultural and open land for the future of Northeast Florida in seven counties.  I hope you will all attend to hear more about how there actually are organizations such as this one that are out to help keep our outdoor surroundings beautiful.

I'll see you Wednesday.

BEERFEST

Jacksonville Craft and Import Beer Festival

Friday, May 17th

Jacksonville Veteran's Arena

We still desperately need volunteers for the BeerFest on Friday, May 17, 2013. Volunteers should be available for two to three hours each between 5:00pm and 11:00pm. You could bring your spouse and/or a friend (or two or three friends). The BeerFest raises a lot of money for our club. Since we do not participate in the Jazz Festival this year, the BeerFest will replace some of the funds we are losing. You can help in different ways: Volunteer your time, donate an item for the Silent Auction (100% return to SBMC) or simply by buying tickets for the event. Please reply by e-mail to the Co-Chairs.

This year's Co-chairs for BeerFest are: Axel von Loewenclau ([email protected] 904 504-0262), and Tripp House ([email protected] 904 502-2291)  They have full details about anything you will need to know.

18th ANNUAL SBMC CHARITY GOLF CLASSIC
