PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Jepp Walter, SBMC 2013 PresidentJepp Walter, President
Southside Business Men's Club

(904) 838-8400

Last week we had a very entertaining talk from Cole Pepper, one of the strongest voices for the Jaguars in the local area.  We heard his thoughts on the Draft before it started, as well as the new 'regime' for the Jaguars, and what was needed to win.  I for one look forward to this year's season with the Jaguars!

We are nearing the end of April, and going into our 'Big Month'.  May is huge for our club, with the YAP Golf Tournament, the Beerfest, and the Players Championship, all in the same month.  We definitely need volunteers for the TPC, so please read below for more details on that.

On the note of the YAP Golf Tournament, we will have a 10 minute spotlight by Rick Thompson for you, and as usual, have a great surprise for you, as we've had in past years.  Any new members that have not been to the meeting where we spotlight this tournament are in for a treat.  You will thoroughly enjoy it. So plan to attend, and bring guests!  We've had a great year in attendance and membership, and we're not going to let up now.

See you Wednesday.

Jepp

DIRECTORY
The 2013 Directory is here!

You can pick up your copy at each regular lunch meeting.

THE PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP
TPC is next week and need your help!Because we're the best organization out there, we've been asked to manage a newer, larger tent the week of May 6th-12th.  UNFORTUNATELY we're WAY behind on volunteers and need help closing the gap.  If you've already signed up, consider working another shift, ask your spouses, friends, neighbors and acquaintances in other organizations.

If you'd like to volunteer, please email or sign up via the website (members only). This is one of the most fun volunteer events of the year and is sure to be better than ever.  (Did I mention there is a party involved?)As usual 4th VP Julie Clements has graciously offered to host our annual TPC party May 4th (adults only please), but you must be a volunteer to attend!  If you're a new member, or haven't ever worked TPC before, email or call with any questions you may have.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Finally, our added incentive....the drawing.  If you volunteer for any day you'll be eligible to win $100.  However if Saturday your name goes in the drawing twice, and if you're working Sunday, or the Thurs-Sat Closing shifts you'll have your name in 3 TIMES!!!!

BEERFEST

Jacksonville Craft and Import Beer Festival

Friday, May 17th

Jacksonville Veteran's Arena

Mike White of Client Focused Media and The Buzz Magazine has once again invited SBMC to be the primary beneficiary
for this event; the more people we get to volunteer, the more money we make for our causes!  To do this, we need about 80 volunteers NOW (members, spouses, and friends) who are committed to work a variety of positions: Dock Load In, Booth Attendants, Silent Auction, Entrance/Check In, Brochures/Glasses, and Clean Up.  Shifts start at 1, 5, 5:30 and 9pm; the event ends at 10pm.

This is a great event and has been a lot of fun for our members over the years.  It provides our club with the biggest income 'Bang For The Buck' of the year!  In 5 hours, we can earn nearly of what we will make during the entire week at TPC!

ALSO, our Club will receive a 100% return on all items our members donate to the silent auction!!  We really need to take advantage of this, as it is good for the Club and gives your business plenty of exposure.

If you cannot work or donate an item, you can STILL help the Club: SBMC retains 30% of all sponsorships sold through the club and makes money off of ticket sales.  Anyone who purchases tickets on
www.beerfestjax.com and types in SBMC as a promo code will save $5 off of the tickets and the club will make money off of that ticket!!

This year's Co-chairs for BeerFest are: Axel von Loewenclau ([email protected] 904 504-0262), and Tripp House ([email protected] 904 502-2291)  They have full details about anything you will need to know.

18th ANNUAL SBMC CHARITY GOLF CLASSIC
