PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Jepp Walter, SBMC 2013 PresidentJepp Walter, President
Southside Business Men's Club

(904) 838-8400

I'd like to thank 1st Vice President Annie Howe for taking the reins of the club in my absence last week.  I'd also like to thank so many of you for your kind words, and visits, over the past week.  It was greatly appreciated, and will not ever be forgotten.

Here's Annie's message:

Our speaker from the Jacksonville Axe Men shared with us some of the exciting details about Rugby, a sport that is growing here in the US. It was interesting to hear that the athletes on the team are "semi-professional," meaning they don't get paid, but they are offered living accommodations and aren't require to "pay to play" like many other Rugby teams.

It sounds like many of our members are encouraging the club to host a social event at a match when the season starts this summer- so look out for potential future announcements!

Congratulations to our 1st Quarter Membership Contest Winners! It pays to sponsor a new member, and it pays big! Our 4th VP Julie Clements took home the 1st place prize of $250, and member Angie Tekin came in at the last minute to take home the 2nd place prize of $150. The 2nd quarter contest kicks off soon, so make sure you are bringing guests to meetings so we can help our club grow.

1st Vice President, Annie Howe

Thanks Annie!

See you Wednesday, and hope to see you at the Meet A Member on Thursday!!

THE PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP

Ladies and Gentlemen,

It's that time again. Time to gear up for one of the biggest SBMC events of the year, TPC!  Because we're the best organization out there, we've been asked to manage a newer, larger tent the week of May 6th-12th.  If you'd like to volunteer, please email or make sure and sign-up at the next SBMC meeting. This is one of the most fun volunteer events of the year and is sure to be better than ever.

(Did I mention there is a party involved?) As usual 4th VP Julie Clements has graciously offered to host our annual TPC party, but you must be a volunteer to attend! If you're a new member, or haven't ever worked TPC before, email or call with any questions you may have. We look forward to seeing you there!
