PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Jepp Walter, SBMC 2013 PresidentJepp Walter, President
Southside Business Men's Club

(904) 838-8400

This past Wednesday, we had a very informative talk from Jerry Mallot, the interim President of our Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce.  Jerry made it clear that he is NOT in the running for the permanent position of President, replacing recently retired Wally Lee.  "I'm so busy running the Jax USA Partnership, and love that work so much, I can't imagine doing anything else," Mallot said.  Jerry gave us great insight on how the business climate is in Jacksonville, how much it is improving, and what's to come in our future.

This Friday we will have our first major Tailgating Event at the Suns Game.  This will be a blast, and a wonderful networking opportunity, since we will be partnering with the Florida Tackle & Gun Club.  So there will be many people that you probably have not yet met.  For only $7, you get to eat and drink all you want prior to the game, and get a ticket to get in.  The deadline to purchase a ticket is MONDAY, April 1st.  And that is not an April fool's joke!

Visit our events calendar, and you'll be able to purchase your tickets there.

This Wednesday we will hear all about the Second Harvest Food Bank from Bruce Ganger.  I'll see you all Wednesday.

THE PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP

Ladies and Gentlemen,

It's that time again. Time to gear up for one of the biggest SBMC events of the year, TPC!  Because we're the best organization out there, we've been asked to manage a newer, larger tent the week of May 6th-12th.  If you'd like to volunteer, please email or make sure and sign-up at the next SBMC meeting. This is one of the most fun volunteer events of the year and is sure to be better than ever.

(Did I mention there is a party involved?) As usual 4th VP Julie Clements has graciously offered to host our annual TPC party, but you must be a volunteer to attend! If you're a new member, or haven't ever worked TPC before, email or call with any questions you may have. We look forward to seeing you there!
