PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Jepp Walter, SBMC 2013 President

Last week we had Don Harris from the Wyndham Hotel, speaking to us as a Board Member of the Downtown Investment Authority.  It was very informative, and gave a good impression as to the city taking a stronger stand on the development and enhancement of Downtown Jacksonville.
They've only been in existence for 4 months, but we got the feeling this is going to be a very positive move for our city core.

Don also donated a one night stay at the Wyndham Hotel, along with a bottle of wine!  What a wonderful thing, and a great addition to our weekly auction, which is having a very good year.  John Hamel couldn't make it yesterday, but Past President and Chairman Gene Maszy brought Angie Tekin up to help along with our 'Vanna' for the day, Erin Eiras.  I really appreciate your team effort to help raise money for our club.

This weekend is the annual Board Retreat, which will be hosted by our Chairwoman, Galina Schott.  All officers and board members will be there to learn more about each other and more about the many things that keeps this wonderful organization growing and thriving.  We are having fun at the meetings, and learning at the same time.

I look forward to seeing you all next week when Matt Rapp visits us to talk about The Players Championship.

SPRING YAP --- March 20th & 21st -

We will be selling Chicken dinners for $8 per tickets that can be purchased at the next meeting or by e-mailing Harry Peltz at
[email protected] or Patrick Heatherington

Dinners will need to be picked up at
Beauclerc Elementary  on day of cook out March 21st
The patrols will be joining us for lunch on the 20th and we'll need help at the BBQ the next day.  If you're willing and able to lend a hand, please email us to get added to the list.

The Youth Achiever Program helps the boys and girls who serve as Southside Elementary school safety patrols, specifically those of Beaclerc  with the cost of the trip to Washington DC. Then later upon applying to college, these same students are eligible to apply for our annual YAP college scholarships to the schools of their choice (usually $1,000-$1,500 depending on demand).  This program is funded in part by our semi-annual Youth Achiever Program cook-outs, and the first one is just around the corner on March 21st.   We'd like to thank the following members for committing to sponsor this year:
