PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Jepp Walter, SBMC 2013 PresidentJepp Walter
2013 President

This past Wednesday we got to hear about the upcoming 450th Birthday of St Augustine, and the support from the military we've had over the years in St Augustine and the surrounding areas.  Ron Radford was a wealth of information.  We had four people come up to me before the meeting with the correct answer from last week's newsletter when asked for the actual birthday for St. Augustine.  It was September 8th, 1565.  So the 450th will be in 2015.  The winners were all ladies!
Janna Thomas, Leslie Silva, Mary Cox, and 1st Vice President Annie Howe all received $3 in 50/50 tickets, and in fact, Annie was one of the 50/50 winners!  So see, it pays to read these newsletters, doesn't it?

Come hear Jerry Mallot take the role of Guest Speaker for our club this week.  I've known Jerry for many years, and he never ceases to amaze me
when it comes to knowing what companies are considering moving to our fine city, and why it will benefit them and ourselves. Jerry is the President of Jax USA Partnership, and theExecutive Vice President of our Jax Chamber!

We continue to have very strong attendance at our meetings, I am so proud of all of you continuing to show your support.  I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend.

See you at the meeting!

Jepp

SPRING YAP

March 20th & 21st

The Youth Achiever Program helps the boys and girls who serve as Southside Elementary school safety patrols, specifically those of Beaclerc with the cost of the trip to Washington DC. Then later upon applying to college, these same students are eligible to apply for our annual YAP college scholarships to the schools of their choice (usually $1,000-$1,500 depending on demand). This program is funded in part by our semi-annual Youth Achiever Program cook-outs, and the first one is just around the corner on March 21st.

This is your opportunity to make an investment in this worthy program. As SBMC members you can make a difference by getting involved. There are 3 ways to get involved you can help on the YAP committee, volunteer the day of the cookout 3/21/2013 or Invest by being a Sponsor in this program. Investment Sponsorships for just the spring is $125 or you can lock in a Sponsorship for both spring and fall for just $200.
