PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Jepp Walter, SBMC 2013 PresidentJepp Walter
2013 President

Hello everyone, and I hope you had a great Ground

hog Weekend!  It's always great to get an extended forecast from a jittery, inconsistent, reddish brown rodent.  But I have a special place in my heart for Groundhog Day.  4 years ago that was my last day with a business partner!!  Things have been incredible since, wish I had done it a long time ago.  But it depends on the situation.  Some people and businesses survive and thrive with partnerships.  We definitely have a lot of small 'partnerships' in our club that help it grow and thrive.

This past Wednesday, I had a trivia question.  I offered $50 for anyone (besides a Past President) to come up and recite our mission statement, verbatim.  1st Vice President Annie Howe and 3rd Vice President Patrick Heatherington made valid attempts, but alas, they failed.  And it was great to hear all of the Past Presidents being 'Johnny on the spot' to point out their mistakes.  We'll try that one again in a month or so.  Next trivia date I'll ask something that the Past Presidents can participate in.  Remember to visit our website when you can, there is a LOT of information on our history and makeup of the club there.

This week we will have Historian Ron Radford as our speaker.  He will be telling us all about the upcoming Old City celebration of 450 amazing years!  Did you know the old fort (Castillo De San Marcos) is 300 years old?  Ok, so to see how many of you read all of this....  Anyone that comes up to me before the meeting starts on the 6th, and tells me the exact date of St Augustine's 450th birthday, will get $3 worth of 50/50 tickets for that day.  Members only please, and don't give it away to your friends.  Make them work for it!

See you at the meeting!

Jepp

SPRING YAP

March 20th & 21st

The Youth Achiever Program helps the boys and girls who serve as Southside Elementary school safety patrols, specifically those of Beaclerc with the cost of the trip to Washington DC. Then later upon applying to college, these same students are eligible to apply for our annual YAP college scholarships to the schools of their choice (usually $1,000-$1,500 depending on demand). This program is funded in part by our semi-annual Youth Achiever Program cook-outs, and the first one is just around the corner on March 21st.

This is your opportunity to make an investment in this worthy program. As SBMC members you can make a difference by getting involved. There are 3 ways to get involved you can help on the YAP committee, volunteer the day of the cookout 3/21/2013 or Invest by being a Sponsor in this program. Investment Sponsorships for just the spring is $125 or you can lock in a Sponsorship for both spring and fall for just $200.
