Dear Friends,

"Why, what's the matter,
That you have such a February face,
So full of frost, of storm and cloudiness?"
- -William Shakespeare,  Much Ado About Nothing

Perhaps the best solution to February is to shelter your frosty face in the glowing pages of a book!

Pysanky eggs The Easter Craft Book, by Thomas and Petra Berger, Floris, 1993, 87 pgs.
The authors show how to make Easter figures and decorations of dough, wool, felt, and tissue paper, and present different ways to decorate eggs. They also offer suggestions for creating a festive table. Fully illustrated with color photos.

Bread and Wine book cover Bread and Wine: Readings for Lent and Easter,
Plough Publishing, 2003, 412 pgs.
This is a collection of reflections for Lent grouped around themes including temptation, crucifixion, resurrection, and new life. Selections include writings by C.S. Lewis, Madeline L'Engle, John Donne, Thomas Merton, St. Augustine, Leo Tolstoy, and many more.

Merry Easter Easter: The Legends and the Facts, by Eleanor C. Merry, Floris, 2008 [1967], 136 pgs.

She focuses on three legends: that of The Holy Grail and Perceval; an old Irish legend, and the legend of Faust." New Books

Kindling the Word book cover
Kindling the Word: The Karmic Background of Marie Steiner-von Sivers, by Rahel Kern and Brien Masters,
Temple Lodge, 2013, 208 pgs.
The authors posit that Marie Steiner, Rudolf Steiner's wife and coworker, has been neglected by the anthroposophic movement, and their aim with this book is to illuminate her karma and mission.

Endowment book cover Rudolf Steiner's Endowment. Centenary Reflections on His Attempt for a Theosophical Art and Way of Life, 15 December 1911, by Virginia Sease, Temple Lodge, 2013, 112 pgs.
Many of Rudolf Steiner's initiatives are still vibrant and visible today; one, however, did not develop as planned: his so-called endowment of 1911. This was his attempt to create a "Society for a Theosophical Art and Way of Life" that would work "under the protectorate of Christian Rosenkreutz." With this, he tried to enable a culture that would "engender artists in every domain of life." The author reflects that "the latent seeds in Rudolf Steiner's attempt still have the possibility to reach fruition in the future."
