Greetings!
Is it possible to change the world? The answer is a resounding "yes" if individuals become the change they envision! In this month's issue you'll read how an innovative Chicago nonprofit and the PMI Chicagoland Chapter are partnering to develop tomorrow's leaders by investing time and energy in young people today. Through the Ladies of Virtue (LOV) program, teenage females learn and apply project management concepts to address important social issues.
In addition, this issue highlights the various academic scholarships that PMIEF administers. We encourage you to review the guidelines to determine if either you or someone you know is eligible to apply. You'll also learn how to nominate either yourself or someone you know for The Kerzner Award, an esteemed honor sponsored by the International Institute for Learning (IIL) that recognizes outstanding contribution to the project management field with a prize valued at nearly US$ 10,000.
So please continue reading...you'll like what you see!
Sincerely,
Your Friends at PMIEF

Changing Young Lives Through Project Management

PMI Chicagoland Chapter uses PMIEF's Project Management Skills for LifeSM to deliver youth training
PMIEF liaison Fred Barrett manages a unique partnership between the PMI Chicagoland Chapter and a Chicago-based nonprofit organization called Ladies of Virtue (LOV) to deliver project management training to teenage females. LOV develops participants' leadership skills through hands-on, experiential activities that enable them to address social issues like bullying, drunk driving and healthy living. LOV Executive Director Jamila McClinton reached out to the PMI Chicagoland Chapter in 2012 to determine if and how the two could partner. As a result, a group of chapter volunteers now works actively with LOV to deliver training using PMIEF's Project Management Skills for LifeSM resource, which provides an introduction to project management knowledge and concepts.

"The gifting of educational tools and the PMI Advisor volunteers all represent vital resources that will amplify the abilities and skill sets of LOV participants and volunteers," said McClinton.
We invite you to read more about this exciting work and its successful outcomes.
