underserved communities. LOV participants receive project management training so they, too, can develop and implement community service projects. He also described the personal satisfaction that Chapter members derive from helping the girls recognize and apply project management as a life skill that will support their long-term success and ongoing civic engagement.
Acilio spoke about the PMI Sao Paulo Chapter's efforts to recruit volunteers on behalf of the Center for Digital Inclusion (CDI), a nongovernmental organization that has integrated project management into its programs for young people. CDI equips less advantaged youth with the kinds of training and skill development necessary for workforce entry. Acilio recruited more than 30 volunteers through PMI's Volunteer Relationship Management System to facilitate CDI's youth project management training. In addition to sharing lessons learned, he described the incredible passion that volunteerism generates.
Both Fred and Acilio also offered practical tips about how best to create a successful -- and sustainable -- youth project management program. Their presentations will soon be available on the PMIEF website.
