Hello and welcome!

Thanks for dropping in to the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center, a not-for-profit, AZA-accredited wildlife park and educational facility with a diverse crew of staff and volunteers. We're glad you're here with us, and we hope to see you in person soon.

As usual, there's a lot going on in this issue. Enjoy the photos and the news. Get to know our amazing cast of characters, and share us with your friends. Please come visit us right here in West Yellowstone, relax and watch the animals, and participate in one of our interactive programs and displays. Until then we wish you all the best. We hope we can bring a little discovery and excitement your way. See you soon!

What's Happening at the GWDC

We're going to keep this issue of the email newsletter short and sweet. Spring is no time for lolly-gagging or dilly-dallying. We have many projects to finish before you get here, so we're just going to give you the latest news and get back to work. We hope you'll come see with your own eyes what's happening here at the Center. We'll be open until 6:00 p.m. through the 8th of May, and then we'll adopt our 8:30 - 8:30 summer hours through the first week of September! We're looking forward to sharing the amazing animals and exhbits with you.

Remember if you have any questions, or just want to know more about any aspect of the Center, you can always give us a call at 406.646.7001, reply to this newsletter, or email
info@grizzlydiscoveryctr.com. We will try to keep you informed and up to date in as many ways as we can. Your involvement and interest in what we do keeps us doing it! We welcome your feedback and suggestions. Thanks again for tuning in.

(Oh My!)
Animal Updates

Birds, wolves, and bears are all healthy and seem plenty happy! We have replaced the antenna for the wolfcam, and are hoping you've been able to enjoy watching the bears and the wolves lately. We also want to thank all of you who have responded to the recent appeal to support the animals and projects here at the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center. Your care for the animals makes us all smile!

Stay tuned and we'll keep you posted on the reason we're all here - the animals! Every issue of our email newsletter will have updates on the animals, and we will still be sending quarterly newsletters through the mail. We hope you'll stay tuned and please come visit us soon.

 Education
Knowledge Is a Powerful Tool

It's an exciting season for the Education crew. Interns for the coming summer are currently being interviewed. International Migratory Bird Day has been announced for May 17th, and the entire month of May is already filled to the brim with group tours, school visits, outreach programs, and rolling out new programs here at the center. A West Yellowstone School student shared the Bear-Safe Community Project as his science project and won 2nd place!, and earlier this month we were invited to Hollywood to help DisneyNature celebrate the opening of their new film "BEARS."

In April, the Center loaned education displays and our Director John Heine to Disney for the opening of "BEARS" at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood, California. On the first day alone, John and Gretchen talked to hundreds of visitors about bears, wolves and the GWDC. We will pick up our loaned exhibit in several weeks. The reach of this project is hard to anticipate!

If you're interested in visiting the GWDC with your family or with your students, or if you'd like to sponsor a Teaching Trunk or outreach program, let us know. One of the Center's naturalists can visit your school for special assemblies, programs or activities. As you know, some of our birds-of-prey can travel for such programs as can our large collection of wolf and bear artifacts. We are currently adding materials to our Teaching Trunks, and adding programs to our roster. We will customize the program or the Teaching Trunk for your group and areas of special interest.

New and Exciting Opportunities to Support the GWDC

Our heartfelt thanks go out to each of you who have responded to our Spring Appeal. Your donations to the Center, for new projects like the Ground Squirrel Exhibit, and for ongoing care that operational support allows, are all invaluable to us. Thank you.

For anyone looking for a perfect gift for all the upcoming celebrations, let us remind you that your online purchase of Benefit Wines directly benefits the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center. We receive $6 for every bottle of wine you purchase, and what better way to toast a graduate, a mom, a dad, or yourself?!, than with a glass of Spirit Chardonnay or McKinley Malbec? We hope you'll raise a glass to loved ones while supporting the GWDC. Check out this rewarding and refreshing (and responsible we hope!) giving opportunity here.

Thanks for ALL you do to help the GWDC. Your support makes a world of difference to the animals here, and to the work we do. We hope to hear from you and see you soon.

Photographs and Artwork from the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center

We are honored to have many artists and photographers visit and support the GWDC. Their vision and talents inspire and enliven our work here, so we thought it would be nice to feature some of their work in every issue of our newsletter. If you'd like to see your artwork here, send us an image! Paintings, sculptures, and mixed media are welcome too. Davey Johnson and John Heine took some of the photos you are seeing in this issue.

This image is from Christopher Balmer, a winner in the professional division of last fall's photography contest here at the GWDC. He will be teaching a photography course here at the Center in July of this year! Many of his workshops for 2014 are already sold out, so keep your eyes here for more information about this unique opportunity that will benefit the Center!

We hope you enjoy this issue, learn a little something, and feel like you are here with us for just a few minutes. It's a pretty special place to be. Have a great month and enjoy all March has to offer, and we'll look forward to seeing you soon.

Thanks again for keeping up with us and for all you do.

Sincerely,
