Hello and welcome!

Thanks for dropping in to the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center, a not-for-profit, AZA-accredited wildlife park and educational facility, with a diverse crew of staff and volunteers. We're glad you're here with us, and we hope to see you in person soon.

As usual, there's a lot going on in this issue. Enjoy the photos and the news. Get to know our amazing cast of characters, and share us with your friends. Please come visit us, right here in West Yellowstone, relax and watch the animals, or participate in one of our interactive programs and displays. Until then we wish you all the best. We hope we can bring a little discovery and excitement your way. See you soon!

What's Happening at the GWDC

Today's newsletter has a theme we hope you like: short and sweet, like Acadia.

No rambling this week, just straight-up, time-sensitive NEWS.

We are looking forward to this weekend's Earth Day festivities here in West Yellowstone and we want you to join us. See the Education section below. We want to remind you that there are only a few days left to buy raffle tickets for the spectacular mountain lion print we've been enjoying all winter, which you can see one last time in the Developments article. Finally, we want to tell you about the container testing scheduled for Friday and invite you to watch with us, if not in person than via bear cam. Just keep reading.

Remember if you have any questions, or just want to know more about any aspect of the Center, you can always give us a call at 406.646.7001, reply to this newsletter, or email
info@grizzlydiscoveryctr.com. We will try to keep you informed and up to date in as many ways as we can. Your involvement and interest in what we do keeps us doing it! We welcome your feedback and suggestions. Thanks again for tuning in.

Animal Updates

You heard it here: we have another round of container testing coming up Friday. That's right, today! Please join us, the bears, and our wonderful springtime visitors (who are enjoying sunny skies and warm viewing weather) at 8:30 a.m., 12:45, and 4:30 p.m. If you can't be here in person, tune in to the bear cam and get a peek at the excitement.

The two new bald eagles Josh and Zack will be introduced to the outdoor habitat on Monday, April 28th. The walkway will be closed until the birds have adjusted to their new space. Our habitat hours are currently 8:30 - 6:00, seven days a week. Beginning May 10th they will extend from 8:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. We invite you to visit the bears, wolves, and birds soon and often.

Every issue of our email newsletter will have updates on our animals, and we will still be sending quarterly newsletters through the mail. Our next Howls & Growls newsletter will be sent out in June. If you want to be added to our H&G mailing list, give us a call. We'd love to greet you and tell you how to join up.

We know it's not the people who draw you to the GWDC, as charming as we are, so we'll keep you posted on the reason we're all here: the bears, wolves, and birds. Don't forget our bear dog Nakiska, who will be participating in our summer programs! Remember to tune in to our webcams when you're wondering what's going on around here; we want to keep you in the loop.

More than 120 of the top zoos and aquariums across North America are throwing a Party for the Planet™ from April 16th through this weekend, making it the largest combined Earth Day celebration in North America! New and Exciting Opportunities to Support the GWDC

Remember. Short and sweet.

Our Winter Raffle is quickly drawing to a close. This gorgeous framed print is a signed, numbered, limited edition and it has been matted and framed to fit any decor. Even if you're not a huge fan of mountain lions and even if you can resist the blue-grey eyes of these cougar cubs, you can't deny the artistry of this piece. Whether you would like to see this beautiful piece of art on your own wall or give it as a valuable gift, you have until midnight April 30th to purchase your raffle tickets. That's next Tuesday! We will have the drawing on the morning of May 1st, contact the winner, and then announce the lucky individual's name on Facebook and in the next email newsletter.

Raffle tickets are only $10, and 100% of the proceeds will go to care for the animals here at the GWDC. You can fill out and send in the raffle ticket on the back of the latest Howls & Growls, call us at 406.646.7001, or click here to purchase raffle tickets online. Simply write "Raffle" in the Project line. However you do it, do it soon!

We are grateful that you are involved with the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center.
Thanks again for all you do. We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Photographs and Artwork from the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center

We are honored to have many artists and photographers visit and support the GWDC. Their vision and talents inspire and enliven our work here, so we thought it would be nice to feature some of their work in every issue of our newsletter. If you'd like to see your artwork here, send us an image! Paintings, sculptures, and mixed media are welcome too.

Our thanks to Gretchen Heine, David Reeves, and Kimberly Shields for this week's photographs.

We hope you enjoy this issue, learn a little something, and feel like you are here with us for just a few minutes. It's a pretty special place to be. Have a great couple of weeks and a fantastic spring, and we'll look forward to seeing you soon. Thanks again for all you do.

Sincerely,
Nahani
