Purposeful

Networking

Networking purposefully is a strategic, targeted approach that connects potential new employees/candidates/job seekers with individuals who are selected for their hiring authority or who are individuals identified as being able to influence the hiring manager for the type of new opportunities that matches the candidate's requirements (industry sector, company size, ownership model, competitive status, future potential, location).

By networking with a purpose, candidates are able to increase the number of, and deepen their relationships with, individuals who are most likely to hire them, share desirable job leads and/or make introductions to other hiring decision-makers.

Workforce Connection met with CEO Ron DeSerranno in August to help the company find a Technical Quality Assurance Assistant. Workforce Connection received applications and resumes, screened qualified candidates and made referrals to the company.

While several top-notch candidates were identified, the company selected one who "stood out as just the right fit." While she had a Bachelor's degree in Applied Science in Technology Management, she did not have work experience. Workforce Connection also assisted the company set up an On-the-Job (OJT) program for the new hire.

"Finding high-tech talent in a rural area is a challenge," DeSerranno said. "We would have difficulty filling our staffing needs without the assistance of Workforce Connection."

The new Technical Quality Assurance Assistant started Oct. 1 and B-Scada's general manager reports that she is doing quite well.
