Powerful

Networking Opportunity

Make an impact on students with promise in energy, engineering or STEM-related studies at the College of Central Florida's (CF) Energy Summit Friday, Nov. 16 from 11:45 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at CF's Klein Conference Center, Ocala.

During the luncheon you'll hear from Florida Rep. Seth McKeel, member of the House Energy and Utilities Committee, as well as a representative from the Ocala Power Plant.

But the real energy will come from the opportunity for businesses to interact with secondary students.

The Energy Summit is sponsored by Workforce Connection, Progress Energy and the Ocala Power Plant. There is no charge to attend, and lunch will be provided. To learn more or to RSVP, contact Diana Scroggie at scroggid@cf.edu

Air FX logo

Air FX, Inc., is a fully licensed and insured Inverness-based company providing residential and commercial air conditioning, heating and insulation services throughout Citrus, Hernando and Marion counties. Air FX services, sells and provides warranty services for nearly all brands of equipment and provides energy-saving insulation installation.

Stephen Finegan, Jr., president and owner of Air FX, said he contacted Workforce Connection for help finding a residential HVAC technician, indicating he would be willing to train the right person.

"We have been pleased to partner with Workforce Connection," he said. "Not only has Workforce Connection provided us with qualified candidates for our business, they also introduced our company to the On-the-Job Training (OJT) program."

Air FX hired a candidate with experience in commercial HVAC installation who is now being trained for residential  installation, repair and maintenance. Through the  OJT program, Workforce Connection reimburses employers up to 90 percent of a new hire's wages during their training period.

Happy with the outcome of the OJT opportunity, Air FX placed another job order for an experienced HVAC installer.

"Our experience with Workforce Connection has been positive and mutually beneficial," Finegan said. "In addition to their knowledge and expertise, the folks at Workforce Connection go the extra mile and have been a pleasure to work with."
