Your Help is Needed...

Hunger continues to be an issue facing many throughout our nation, including right here. We are still seeing record numbers of local families turning to the Northfield Township Food Pantry for assistance.  This past year over 750 local families were eligible to receive Pantry services.  We were able to provide this help to our neighbors in need because of the generosity and support of you, our donors.

Many times we are asked "When is the Pantry the busiest?" or "How can we help?"  The truth is that no time is busier than another at the Pantry.  Hunger doesn't take a vacation.  If people are struggling to make ends meet in December, they are likely to be struggling in August.  The biggest challenge the Pantry faces is the lack of donations during the summer months.  As temperatures rise and families are busy with summer activities, donations to the Pantry decrease.  During these months we rely on financial contributions to purchase the food needed to keep the Pantry shelves stocked so we can maintain service levels.

By making a financial contribution to the Pantry you can help ensure that we are able to continue providing assistance to residents now and in the future.  Your tax-deductible contribution will support the Pantry's monthly and holiday food distribution programs. These distribution programs provide perishable and non-perishable food items and grocery store cards to Township residents who are unable to provide enough food for themselves and their families.

On behalf of the families who benefit for your continued generosity, thank you for sharing our belief that Hunger is Unacceptable in Our Community.   Together we are making a difference in the lives of those in need.

Checks can be dropped off or mailed to the Northfield Township Food Pantry at 3801 West Lake Avenue, Glenview, IL 60026.

Credit card donations are accepted over the phone by calling 847-724-8300 or on-line at www.twp.northfield.il.us.

New Township and Pantry Hours

In order to better serve residents, the Northfield Township Board approved extended Township office hours on Thursday evenings.

Beginning August 8th, the Northfield Township office and Food Pantry will be open until 7:00 pm on Thursdays.  Regular business hours will remain Monday through Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. Services that will be provided on Thursday evenings from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm include Assessor, vehicle stickers, voters' registration, passport, Dial-A-Ride and Food Pantry.

"We are pleased to be able to offer this convenience to residents, especially those for whom accessing township services before 4:30 p.m. has been a hardship," said Township Supervisor Jill Brickman.  "This change involves split shifts for our staff to avoid any additional personnel costs.  It is a reflection of our commitment to serving our residents in the best possible ways."

Northfield Township is located at 3801 West Lake Avenue (NW corner of Lake and Pfingsten) in Glenview.  Please call the Township at 847-724-8300 or visit www.northfieldtownship.com for more information and to check holiday hours.
