Seeking E-Waste Collector for September & October
We are so grateful to Cece Caldwell for being such a committed E-Waste collector at the Saturday Markets! Unfortunately, the Caldwell's will be leaving for a few months for Bill's surgery, and we are looking for anyone willing to cover the E-Waste collection in September and October.

A truck is preferred so folks can easily drop off their electronics, which is then taken to the County Recycle station in Lihue.  They have workers there that unload it for you so you don't have to worry about lifting.  If you are willing and able, please e-mail or see David Murray or Sybil Nishioka.
Save the Date! Sunday, October 11
Celebrating Our Holy Sovereigns

All Saints' has been celebrating our Holy Sovereigns, King Kamehameha IV & Queen Emma, for the past several years during the month of October.  Although the actual feast day is in November, it has become a tradition at All Saints' to hold it on the second Sunday of October, and this year it will be on October 11.  Save the date and be sure to attend this beautiful service and reception afterwards.
ONGOING REMINDERS:
August Special Collections for Hale Ho'omalu
canned goods During the month of August, the ladies of the ECW will be making a special collection of canned goods to include tuna, fruit, vegetables, ravioli and spaghetti, for Hale Ho'omalu, a family services center located a half-block away from the church.  Donations of other canned and packaged goods are always welcome as well as monetary gifts. All donations can be left in the red wagon at the church entrance every Sunday.
Volunteer Sign Up Sheets at Sunday Services!

If you'd like to volunteer for Laundry Love Kauai that takes place every first and third Wednesdays of the month, sign-up in the Laundry Love Manual that will be on the entrance table during Sunday services. Folks can sign up to volunteer for specific dates and roles on the volunteer sign-up sheets, and also peruse the operating instructions that contain the responsibilities for each role.

A few volunteers have already decided which roles they like best, and others are still trying out different areas. Even if all roles are taken on a specific date you are interested in helping at, please show up and help as a Love Ambassador. (There is no limit to the number of Love Ambassadors at any session.) These are our all-around workers who not only interact with patrons, but are key to the smooth flow of the operation, transferring laundry from one area to another.  Love Ambassadors are especially needed to help with folding and bagging when a load is done.

All are welcome to take part in this rewarding outreach ministry. For more information, visit the LLK webpage HERE.

PICTURE OF THE WEEK:
Happy First Birthday Ellie!

Dwarfed by her Hello Kitty balloon, Ellie and mom Anna Yu celebrated her first birthday this past Saturday, August 8. (Dad Carl probably snapped this picture!) Friends and church members were invited to mark this special occasion in the Rectory (thanks to Godfather Fr. Ryan & Aunty Erin), and folks showed up in droves!  It's no secret that Anna is a marvelous cook, and she whipped up hundreds of delicious tea sandwiches, cookies, cupcakes and other "kit-tea" delights! The rectory was packed with well-wishers that overflowed into the carport and lanai areas. What a joyous celebration! (Photo from mom's Facebook page.)
WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING AT ALL SAINTS':
ECW School Supplies Drive

The wonderful ladies of the Episcopal Church Women (ECW) recently collected school supplies for the children of Hale Ho'omalu, the family service center located just down the street from All Saints'.  Pictured above with the mountains of donations from members are (from left): Janis Wright, Cece Caldwell, Kristi Moises, Leslie Womack, April Womack, Jan Hashizume, Mary Margaret Smith and Diane Sato.
Safety at Saturday Market & Swap Meet

Along with the regular line-up of talented crafters, our first responders were out in force at our Saturday Market and Swap Meet held on August 8, for our Safety & Service theme.  Many thanks to member Nadine Nakamura, our County Managing Director, for  putting us in touch with the officers from nearly all branches of public safety. They set up wonderful displays and exhibits filled with information and classes to educate our community. Pictured above, the Kauai Fire Department held CPR classes for all ages, and at right, Lorna Nishi and Janis Wright check out Sparky's hi-tech trailer with simulated fires and hurricane effects!

Above, the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) had all sorts of great information on preparing for and dealing with disasters; the Ocean Safety Team had an elaborate display with giveaways and information on the Junior Lifeguard Program that just recently captured the state title for 12 consecutive years!  Below, the Kauai Police had information on setting up a Neighborhood Watch program and how to secure your home; Bill Brown enjoys an awesome step massage, and David Murray helps folks load up their e-waste into the Caldwell's truck.

Get ready for next month--- It's all about FOOD!!!  If you know of any food vendors, including food trucks, shave ice, ice cream, plate lunches, laulau, etc., have them get in touch with us or direct them to our webpage HERE.
