Annual "4th" of July BBQ
Announcement from David Murray:
It's our annual 4th of July BBQ happening on Sunday, July 6, following the second service.  Be sure to come and enjoy the feast!!!  It's always a great time for the All Saints' 'ohana to gather and fellowship while we celebrate Independence Day!

The Hospitality Ministry will be providing: hamburgers, veggie burgers, sausages, hot dogs, chicken drumsticks and thighs! There will also be grilled fruit, potato salad, salad fixings, watermelon, pie and ice cream, coffee, juice, Mimosas and root beer floats!

If you would like to make a donation toward the cost of the BBQ, provide anything listed above or bring something else along (your favorite July 4th dish, beverage or whatever)... please let David, Chris, Jean, Janis or Kristi (aka the Hospitality Crew) know!  As usual, donations are graciously and gratefully accepted!

Love you all and look forward to a wonderful celebration!

Philadelphia Here We Come!!!
After three loooong years of anticipation and fund raising, seven high school youth from All Saints' will be a part of the Diocese of Hawai'i's youth delegation heading to Philadelphia on Tuesday, July 8.  They will be experiencing the Episcopal Church's largest youth event, EYE'14, that occurs just once every three years. Over 1,000 young Episcopalians and leaders from around the world will converge upon Villanova University in Phildelphia for 3 days of worship, praise, fellowship, sharing and learning. They will then embark on 3 days of urban mission, serving the community.

Our very own Casey Nakamura, is a member of the design team, who has been traveling back and forth to the mainland over the past year to help organize and plan this highly anticipated event. Try as we might, she has been keeping things under wraps so that it will be a wonderful surprise and experience for all the participants!

Thanks to the generosity and support of church members and our overseas 'ohana, the youth were able to raise every cent for this trip!  They are deeply grateful to their All Saints' family for this opportunity. Please keep the entire delegation and participants in your prayers. From All Saints', traveling are: Alanna Bauman, Noah LaMadrid, Casey Nakamura, Reis Nakamura, Mason Tabura, Cassidy & Grace Yatsko, and adults Rev. Ryan Newman and Sybil Nishioka.
Electronic Waste Collection & Dump Run: July 12
The Caldwell's will be making an e-waste dump run run on Saturday, July 12.  Items can be dropped off at the back of the gym on the covered patio area. There will also be a container for dead batteries that that will be disposed of properly.  The Caldwell's, along with Chris Wataya, are also willing to pick up items from members' homes. If you have any questions or would like to arrange a pick up, e-mail Cece or call the church office at 822-4267. Be sure to check the list of acceptable items for disposal on the County's Recycle site HERE.
July Summer Fair & Swap Meet
Saturday, July 12
Organizers of the First Saturday Markets are currently re-evaluating the monthly event, and have cancelled July's market. We will instead hold a special Summer Fair and Swap Meet on Saturday, July 12.  Pricing for vendors is only $10!!! Be sure to spread the word!!!  Interested vendors can contact the church office at 822-4267, or e-mail allsaintskauai@hawaiiantel.net.

We are currently going through the legal process to change our first Saturday market to a more flexible day of the month so that we are not competing with other venues on that very busy first Saturday in Kapa'a. We will keep you posted and hopefully be able to resume our markets in August!

WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING AT ALL SAINTS':
The First ASIS Futsal Tournament Scores Big!
All Saints' Indoor Sports' (ASIS) very first futsal tournament was held on Saturday, June 28, and it was a huge success! With 10 youth teams and 5 adults teams, futsal is definitely alive and well on Kaua'i! Players from Kekaha to Hanalei participated in the tournament that is similar to indoor soccer, but with such a small court, players must utilize good ball handling skills to control the ball within boundary lines. Players as young as nine displayed remarkable skills!  Although all the games were fast-paced and exciting, the adult games were explosive and came down to the final nail-biter game to determine the champion, the team of Pacos Tacos!

Youth member Noah LaMadrid captured the MVP award in the Adult division that was voted on by all coaches, captains and offficials. His team Uhhhhh, with team captain and tournament founder Shane Nishioka-Healy, took third. Noah was also on a U17 team, the eLEMONators with fellow youth members Alanna Bauman and Cassie Wilson, who captured second place in that division.

The response has been overwhelmingly positive, and with Kauai's first futsal tournament over, it is hoped that the futsal community will continue to grow and create more opportunities for youth to compete.

Thanks to Shane, who upon returning from college for the summer, was dying to play some form of soccer, and persuaded mom to make it happen. Fr. Ryan was able to scrape up some funding for awards and equipment, and within a couple weeks, the tournament was set. Thank you to all of the youth group and parents who worked so hard to set-up, cook, check-in and clean-up. There are a lot of grateful futsal fans!

We are especially grateful to our Buildings and Grounds hero, David Crocker, who put together last-minute gates in the gym to prevent the balls from going out, and to Fr. Ryan for donating his kennel pieces to create them!

Pictured at top left are some of the U17 members of Kaua'i United and eLEMONators with Cassie, Alanna and Noah standing 5th, 6th & 7th from left, and adult team Uhhhhh with Shane, second from left, and Noah, far right. To view more pictures of the tournament and the winning teams, visit the All Saints' Indoor Sports (ASIS) page on our website HERE or visit the Facebook page HERE.
Congratulations Sophia and Jaise!

On Sunday, June 29, 2014, All Saints' baptized sisters Sophia and Jaise May Hiltsley. The Crocker's stood in as "proxy" God Parents. It was a joyous event and also a bittersweet time, as we say aloha to the family. Along with their mom Adriana and their grandmother, they will be heading to Las Vegas to be closer to family. It has been a joy to have them with us and wish them the very best. God be with the May Hiltsley's always!
Sunday's Shining Stars

Sunday's baptism was a highlight at the second service, but it wasn't the only shining moment. It was also Annalise Castro's first Sunday sermon with us, and music candidate Hope Solanis' debut performance for members. Annalise gave a wonderful sermon on "welcoming"... a fitting subject that tied in the Gospel reading, her welcoming experiences in Thailand, and the baptism that was about to take place to welcome young Sophia and Jaise into the community of Christ. Second service members were treated to the musical talents of Hope Solanis, who even composed a special number for the offertory. Folks were treated to all sorts of wonderful goodies during the Aloha Hour including Victor's ono fried noodles!  Praise God for blessing us with the love and talent of so many!
Picture of the Week

This week's picture of the week comes all the way from down under!  Our Aussie 'ohana, the Revs. Ann and Keith McCollim celebrated their 50th anniversary on the 4th of July!!! Now that's a lot to celebrate!!! Congratulations and God bless you both for many many more years of wedded bliss!
