Hurricane Iselle Approaches Hawai'i

We pray for the safety of everyone in Hawai'i as Iselle makes its way over the islands. The effects are far reaching even before the storm's arrival with many closures and cancellations of events. All Saints' Preschool will be closed on Friday, the youth retreat has been cancelled, and the Saturday Market has also been cancelled. To read the latest updates in the rest of the Diocese and a message from Bishop Fitzpatrick, click HERE. Above all, stay safe and God bless you.

Electronic Waste Collection & Dump Run: August 9
The Caldwell's will be making an e-waste dump run run on Saturday, August 9.  Items can be dropped off at the back of the gym on the covered patio area. There will also be a container for dead batteries that that will be disposed of properly.  The Caldwell's, along with Chris Wataya, are also willing to pick up items from members' homes. If you have any questions or would like to arrange a pick up, e-mail Cece or call the church office at 822-4267. Be sure to check the list of acceptable items for disposal on the County's Recycle site HERE.
August Summer Fair & Swap Meet CANCELLED
Due to Hurricane Iselle (that should be downgraded to a tropcial storm soon) Saturday's Market has been cancelled.

The next market will be scheduled for the second Saturday of September on the 13th. Many thanks to Galen Nakamura for taking care of our permit request to change our "First" Saturday Markets to "any" Saturday (once a month). Organizers have decided to keep "second" Saturdays of the month as the regularly scheduled market date so we are not competing with other venues in Kapa'a.

Pricing for vendors is still only $10 through the end of the year!!! Be sure to spread the word!!!  Interested vendors can contact the church office at 822-4267, or e-mail [email protected]

WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING AT ALL SAINTS':
EYE'14: Marked for Mission
All Saints' Youth Worship & Serve in Philadelphia

On July 8, a delegation of 24 Hawai'i high school youth and 5 adult chaperones, headed off to the triennial Episcopal Youth Event (EYE) in Philadelphia, PA. All Saints' was well represented with six youth and two adult chaperones. Along with over 1,100 other Episcopalians at Villanova University, they sang, worshiped, laughed, ate, learned and prayed together. Following the conference, they embarked on three days of urban mission at the Episcopal Mission Center, where they performed a variety of community services in the heart of the city.

Over the past few years, the Ke Akua Youth Group has been actively fundraising to enable them to go on mission trips and to attend events like this, and are deeply grateful to their All Saints' 'ohana for their support and generosity to help them get there. The Kaua'i EYE delegates were Alanna Bauman, Noah LaMadrid, Mason Tabura, Cassie Wilson, Cassidy and Grace Yatsko, and on the Design Team, Casey Nakamura.  Fr. Ryan and Sybil Nishioka were the adult leaders.

Be sure to visit the Diocesan website HERE to view an entire webpage dedicated to the trip. View photos, read youth reflections and a recent article that appeared in the August 2014 E-Chronicle, along with a report from Casey.

DON'T FORGET TO ATTEND A SPECIAL PRESENTATION BY THE YOUTH (SEE ANNOUNCEMENT ABOVE) BEING HELD ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 10, AT 8:00 AM.
Welcoming Baby Yu!
Carl and Anna Yu are soon expecting their bundle of joy, and members were on hand to help celebrate the event with a baby shower held after the second service on July 20. Dr. Erin and summer intern Annalise Castro planned the event that had lots of fun guessing games, ono food and super delicious gourmet cakes! Thanks to the generosity of members, they received enough for a special rocker and other baby items!   (Photo from Facebook by Joe Adorno)
MAHALO!!!  9th Annual FiF Dodgeball Tournament
By Sybil Nishioka, Tournament Director

Many thanks to the dozens of volunteers that helped make the 9th annual Fun in Fellowship Dodgeball Tournament a success! Despite a late start and limited practices during the month of July, participants had a great time over the two day event held on July 25 & 26. The level of competition was the best yet, and the costumes on Saturday were over the top!  We saw returning players from as far away as New York, Las Vegas, California and a new team of visitors from Virginia!

Although we are grateful to all the volunteers that help each year, special thanks go to our youth group who really stepped up to help run practices and referee both Keiki and Youth matches. As always, our officials are the best that includes the clerks, announcers, referees and the cutest and most efficient ball runners on the planet!
I am especially grateful to Diane Sato and the ladies of the ECW who provide hospitality and refreshments for volunteers, to our diehard photographers, Marge Akana and Bill Caldwell, Mary Smith for her wonderful face painting services, and to Faith Shiramizu, Nadine Nakamura, Dianne Tabura, and Fr. Ryan (who set up all the A/V)--- they are the all-around-get-the-job-done officials who really make sure the tournament flows!

We are already looking forward to a very special tournament next year which will mark its 10th year, and expect it to book up early. I am humbled and feel so deeply blessed to be a part of this community event. Mahalo nui loa to our entire All Saints' 'ohana for your support!!! (Photos of the tournament will soon be posted on the website and FiF Facebook page.)
