'Aha Mele:  Benefit Concert for the Pipe Organ
Sunday, June 8, 2014
'Aha Mele , the name for the mini-concert series to raise funds for organ, will begin with its first concert on Sunday, June 8, from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m., in the church. The first concert will feature the very talented Paul Togioka and Al'i Strings, who are generously donating their time for this effort.

Although outdoor seating for the concert is free, tickets will be sold for a pre-concert champagne reception beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the Sloggett Center, along with reserved indoor seating for $50.00.  To purchase tickets contact the church office at 822-4267 or e-mail. To purchase tickets on-line, click HERE. Please note that there is a small fee for this service.

Our organ expert, Morris Wise, will be donating his gourmet cakes and pastries for the reception, and there will be other refreshments and beverages. Help spread the word!!! Download a copy of the poster and flyer and share it with your friends:  Full-size poster or  Flyer

June's Special Collection for Hale Ho'omalu
The ECW's special collections for Hale Ho'omalu, a family service center located 1/2 block away from All Saints', continues with new items being requested for the month of June.  They will be collecting dry goods such as pasta, Hamburger Helper, Rice, Bread and Crackers.  All Saints' has been a supporter of Hale Ho'omalu for many years, and the special collections are in addition to any packaged and canned goods that are always welcome, as well as monetary donations.  All donations can be left in the red wagon at the church entrance every Sunday.

Summer Sunday Child Care Volunteers Needed

The official Sunday school year has ended, and normally we take a break until Homecoming Sunday in September. However, there have been requests for some sort of child care during the second service, so we are seeking volunteers to serve a few times during the summer on a rotation basis.  It would be a summer program focused more on child care than teaching, with Bible related crafts and games.  We are planning to implement this on Sunday, June 15.  If you are interested, please e-mail Sybil.  The more volunteers we get, the fewer number of times each person will serve.  Please note that all persons working with children must be current with the Safeguarding God's Children training (see below).

Safeguarding God's Children Training
Saturday, June 28 at Christ Memorial
Safeguarding logo
A Safeguarding God's Children training will be held at Christ Memorial Episcopal Church Parish Hall in Kilauea, on Saturday, June 28, from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.

Anyone interested is encouraged to attend the workshop, to increase the awareness of how to watch for warning signs of child abuse.  However, Safeguarding God's Children is required of all clergy, Vestry, and anyone (paid or volunteer) who works with children, and must be retaken every year. This includes Sunday school teachers, youth group leaders, and preschool and school teachers. The initial training must be done in a live training session such as this, but subsequent training can be done online. To read about The Episcopal Churches Safe Church Policy, click HERE.  To register for this training, click HERE.

SEXUAL MISCONDUCT PREVENTION TRAINING is also being held on Saturday, September 13, from 8:00 am - 1:00 pm, at St. Michael's in Lihue. Like Safeguarding God's Children, this is a required course for all clergy, staff, Vestry, those in supervisory positions and Eucharistic Visitors. To register for this training, click HERE.

Seventh  Sunday of Easter: The Sunday after Ascension Day

O God, the King of glory, you have exalted your only Son Jesus Christ with great triumph to your kingdom in heaven: Do not leave us comfortless, but send us your Holy Spirit to  strengthen us, and exalt us to that place where our Savior Christ has gone before; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory  everlasting. Amen.
