Graduation is in the air!
Best wishes to our All Saints' Seniors
balloons_congrats.jpg
Senioritis has been plaguing the Ke Akua Youth Group all year long, and with good reason-- All Saints' will see six of its young ladies graduating from high school this year, a huge number for our small church.  On Friday, May 23, 2014, all of Kaua'i's public high schools will hold commencement exercises, and a new journey begins for them.

Our graduating seniors are Joni Hashizume from Kaua'i High School, and from Kapa'a High School, Alanna Bauman, Casey Nakamura, Ahlexis Vicente, Cassie Wilson, and Cassidy Yatsko. Several of our seniors are Valedictorians!
In the Fall, Joni will be attending the University of Hawai'i in Manoa; Alanna will be heading off to California to attend Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks; Casey will be traveling the farthest to Boston University, Cassie will be going to University of Indianapolis and will continue her soccer playing there, and Cassidy heads to Boise State University in Idaho.  Ahlexis is still weighing her options as she flies out to Arizona.

God bless all of our Seniors... Congratulations!!!

Canon Liz Beasley Heads to Ireland
In an announcement to the Diocese, Bishop Robert Fitzpatrick shared the news that Canon Liz Beasley will be leaving the Diocese of Hawai'i to begin a new ministry with the Church of Ireland.  Her last day is June 27, when she will head from one island home to another.

For members who were here during the three years she was at All Saints' as our interim, we remember how Cn. Liz (whom we called Pastor Liz back then) brought us through a very dark time of transition. She helped us to heal, discern our future and direction, organize us, develop ministries and programs, and grow in our faith and spirit. And try as we might to keep her, the rules said we couldn't, so we hung on as long as we could.  Lucky for everyone she moved on to secure her Canon to the Ordinary position, and has been able to share her talents and gifts with the entire Diocese.

Fr. Ryan is in communication with Cn. Liz to see if she would be able to celebrate a Sunday service with us before she heads off. We will keep you posted so that we can make plans for an Aloha potluck celebration.

'Aha Mele:  Benefit Concert for the Pipe Organ
Sunday, June 8, 2014
'Aha Mele , the name for the mini-concert series to raise funds for organ, will begin with its first concert on Sunday, June 8, from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m., in the church. The first concert will feature the very talented Paul Togioka and Al'i Strings, who are generously donating their time for this effort.

Although outdoor seating for the concert is free, tickets will be sold for a pre-concert champagne reception beginning at 2:00 p.m. along with reserved indoor seating for $50.00.  Our organ expert, Morris Wise, will be donating his gourmet cakes and pastries for the reception, and there will be other refreshments and beverages. Spread the word and stay tuned for more information and ticket sales beginning this coming week!

WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING AT ALL SAINTS':
Mother's Day Craft Fair Reaps Rewards!

When a Saturday Market vendor suggested we put on a Mother's Day Craft Fair, the Ke Akua Youth Group jumped at the opportunity to raise funds for their outreach and mission activities. Although the fair was on a much smaller scale than the annual Holiday Craft Fair that also utilizes the gym, there were over 30 vendors set-up on the lawn between the gym and church. A steady flow of customers kept vendors content and the food booth busy! In total, the youth raised over $2,500 from booth fees, the food booth, and silent auction.  Many thanks to all of our members for their support, and to the youth and parents who worked so hard!
