Going Green! Electronic Waste Collection
Drop off items NOW for the Saturday collection!
As part of the environmental ministry of the church, Bill and Cece Caldwell will be making monthly runs to the Kauai Resource Center collection site for electronic waste, and tomorrow, April 12, is the next date. Bring your items down today or early Saturday morning. Be sure to check the list of acceptable items for disposal on the County's Recycle site HERE.

You may leave your recycle items at the back of the gym on the covered patio area. The Caldwell's, along with Chris Wataya, are also willing to pick up items from members' homes. If you have any questions or would like to arrange a pick up, e-mail Cece or call the church office at 822-4267.

Reminder: Annual Easter Art Project
Turn in your crosses! Deadline is this Sunday, April 13

If you haven't done so already, be sure to get your crosses completed and turned in on Sunday, April 13, for the big unveiling on Easter Sunday.  This year's theme is focused on the environment and we are seeking crosses or a cross picture made with recycled materials. It can also include green waste and things found on the beach. It is hoped that the whole process of creating your piece will be a spiritual journey, from the prayerful gathering of your materials to the design, and finally its assembly. We would also like to have a brief description about the creation of your piece and the inspiration behind it when you submit your cross, or e-mail it to halelani@hawaiiantel.net.  It will be included in a pamphlet at the entrance of the church.

Please keep in mind that these pictures or items will need to be hung on the walls with limited space, so it should be no wider than 16". Please also include a hanger or hooks on it so that it can be easily hung. Reminder: Last year's pictures that have been taken down for Lent are in the church office, so owners can come and claim them there.

Seeking Silent Auction Items
For Mother's Day Craft Fair

The upcoming Mother's Day Craft Fair on Saturday, May 10, is seeking donations for the silent auction.  The craft fair is being run by the youth group to cover the remaining cost of their summer conference and mission in Philadelphia. Last December's silent auction held during the holiday craft fair, raised over $900 to victims of Typhoon Haiyan, and although this fair is much smaller (outdoors only) they are hoping that the food booth and silent auction will be successful enough to cover all expenses. If you would like to contribute an item, please see Sybil or e-mail her.

Detailed information and an application form for car washes can be found HERE.

WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING AT ALL SAINTS':
Relay for Life Fundraiser Reaches Its Goal!

Thanks to the hard work and generosity of our members, the All Saints' Angels have surpassed their goal of raising $3,500 for the upcoming Relay for Life event which be held on May 3 & 4 in Hanapepe, and it's still not over yet!

The ECW and Ke Akua Youth Group have teamed up again in their battle against cancer, and set their goal at $3,500 which is what they raised for last year's event. At the Saturday Market last weekend, the ECW ladies held a bake and plant sale that raised over $900, and luminaria and fruit sales reached $250, bringing in a total of over $1,150.

Saturday's fundraiser tipped them over their goal, but the food they will be selling on the day of the event will add even more. With the help of Wayne Doliente's ono Portuguese Bean Soup, last year's food sales totaled $600, so they are hoping to hit $4,000 when all is said and done this year!

The theme for their booth this year is Spongebob Squarepants, the children's popular underwater cartoon that features a motley crew of characters, including pink jellyfish that the ECW ladies will be. The ladies had a blast working on their costumes during the bake sale. The youth will dress as the main characters, and the food will be decidedly Spongebob based... you'll have to come on down and check out the fun and ono menu and characters too!!!  Can anyone say Crabby Patty?

You can still donate to the team by purchasing luminaria or by going on-line HERE. If you're up for the drive, be sure to come join the action in Hanapepe, the evening of May 3 and hang out in "Bikini Bottom".

Kealia Beach Clean Up

Following the 9:30 service on Sunday, April 6, members gathered together at Kealia Beach for the first of several "Stewardship of Our 'Aina" events.  This first activity was a beach clean up that rounded up all sorts of "stuff" imaginable! Along with regular trash and bits of plastic and debris, there was a tire, sock, unmentionables and a great save by Wayne Doliente, who found our future tug-of-war rope for the Easter Festival!  It was interesting to note that the debris washed in varies greatly from beach to beach, probably because of the currents.  Pictured above are some of the members that turned out with the pile of trash collected in just 1-1/2 hours! Thanks to Cece Caldwell for bringing all the super convenient fish nets and everyone for their hard work in brightening up our environment!

Easter Love for Hale Ho'omalu

The ladies of the ECW have been busy, and during their monthly meeting this past Thursday, they welcomed guest speaker, Dori Farias from Hale Ho'omalu, a family service center located down the street from the church. All Saints' has been a supporter of Hale Ho'omalu for several years, but the ECW has made it a point to provide extra support to the families at Easter and Christmas. Pictured above are the ladies with Dori (wearing lei) and the Easter bags they made for the children of Hale Ho'omalu, filled with lots of goodies. Many thanks to all the members that donated items for this wonderful outreach. (Photo by Marge Akana)

Sunday of the Passion: Palm Sunday
Almighty and everliving God, in your tender love for the human race you sent your Son our Savior Jesus Christ to take upon him our nature, and to suffer death upon the cross, giving us the example of his great humility: Mercifully grant
that we may walk in the way of his suffering, and also share in his resurrection; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
