Lots of help needed on Saturday to prepare!!!
Annual Celebration of the Holy Sovereigns,
Blessing of the Peace Garden & Hawaiian Pot Luck
Our annual service celebrating the Holy Sovereigns will be taking place on Sunday, October 13, during the 9:30 service. This will be a special celebration as we also bless and dedicate the Peace Garden. Special guests from the 'Iolani Guild will be flying over to be a part of this event, as well as local Hawaiian organizations that have taken part each year.

SPECIAL WORK DAY - SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12
In preparation for this special service, we will be cleaning and decorating the Church and grounds on Saturday, October 12, beginning at 8:00 am. Many willing hands will help us to get this done quickly! We will also be cleaning the picnic tables and making preparations for the Hawaiian-themed refreshments following the celebration.

CALL FOR FLOWERS
If you have flowers suitable for the outside displays (heliconia, ginger, ti, etc.) please drop them off at the Church on Friday evening or Saturday morning. We will be putting the arrangements together Saturday morning.

LUNCHEON REFRESHMENTS
The Hospitality crew will be coordinating the local-style pot luck lunch with a Hawaiian theme that already includes Kalua pork, ahi poke, lau lau, chicken long rice, lomi salmon and rice pudding. Here are some additional suggestions for dishes to bring: Salads, rice (plain or fried), additional lomi salmon, haupia, kulolo, pineapple upside-down cake, fruit, or whatever else you would like to bring. If you have any questions, contact our Hospitality Committee members, David Murray, Jean Nakamoto, Krisit Moises, Janis Wright or Bill Brown.

A Glorious Sunday for Pets & People too!
This past Sunday, October 6, our beloved pets were blessed and the first Ocktoberfest gathering took place in the Rectory...it was a wonderful day of fellowship for all creatures great and small!

Blessing of the Animals
Pups were the popular choice of pets at the annual Blessing of the Animals this year. Joshua Rego's Guinea Pig (see Picture of the Week below), was the only non-canine present, although pictures of pets were blessed too. Lots of familiar furry friends lined up in the aisle to be blessed, but there were a number of new mugs too, including the Newman's beloved "children", Nisha and Gilbert! Pets and people gathered on the lawn for the usual coffee hour afterwards, sharing lots of animal stories!

Ocktoberfest Gathering #1

The first of three "Sharing Our Joy" gatherings hosted by the Newmans, took place in the Rectory this past Sunday afternoon. Members were treated to indulgently onolicious pupus and beverages!  Anna Yu, a classically trained Cordon Bleu Chef, whipped up the fare (which will be kept under wraps for the upcoming gatherings), while members mingled, ate, explored, ate, laughed, ate, and did we mention, ate? It was a great time to catch up with members we don't often get to spend time with. It was also a perfect chance to see the amazing changes to the rectory made possible with the design expertise and generosity of the Newmans. How blessed we are!!!

Reminder--- if you haven't yet RSVP'd for your gathering coming up on October 16 and 20, be sure to do so ASAP! If you haven't received your invitation be mail, contact the church office at 822-4267, or e-mail.

Fall Break Youth Gathering

When the Ke Akua Youth Group learned that they would be helping to create a special display for the upcoming Annual Meeting of Convention, they wasted no time! They spent their first day of Fall break working on their portion of the Baptismal/Necrology display, coloring up butterflies. The butterflies now go to the ECW ladies, who will add ribbons to them before making their way to Convention with the delegates. The final display will be assembled at The Cathedral of St. Andrew.  Thank you youth, and thank you Fr. Ryan for providing a comfortable place for them to work in the Rectory at the last minute!
