Message from the Stewardship Committee
Third Meeting this Sunday, September 29
The second Stewardship Committee meeting of the program year was held this past Sunday, with a great turnout and lots of enthusiasm. The group discussed the year-round Stewardship concept, a key component of the Alabama Stewardship Plan that was adopted by All Saints' last year. The Committee discussed some important aspects of the Mission and Goals for the Stewardship Ministry, including broad-based education for the Church 'ohana on year-round Stewardship and the fact that Stewardship is not only about money but rather a spiritual journey and a call from God to share His gift of abundance with our Church, community and families. If you weren't able to attend, it's not too late to participate. There will be a third meeting this Sunday, September 29, after the 9:30 service in Memorial Hall. All are welcome to attend... whether you are curious or have stories or ideas to share. Absolutely no prior involvement is necessary!
Soon you will receive an invitation to "Sharing Our Joy" Ocktoberfest celebations at the All Saints' home, the Rectory. Since we are blessed with a large Church 'ohana, it is not possible to host everyone in one evening so we have divided the "Sharing Our Joy" gathering into three groups for the event. We encourage you to attend on the date you have been invited but if you can't, please feel welcome to attend one of the other gatherings. This is a great opportunity to talk story, meet some new people and ask any questions you may have concerning All Saints' Year-Round Stewardship Ministry...all that with catered pupus and a hosted bar! Once you receive your invitation, please RSVP as soon as possible so we can make sure we have plenty of food and beverages.
Members will be receiving invitations in the mail this week for one of the following dates:
- Sunday, October 6: 4:00 - 6:00 pm
- Wednesday, October 16: 5:30 - 7:30 pm
- Sunday, October 20: 4:00 - 6:00 pm
We want to encourage everyone to attend their designated date, but please call the church office if you cannot, at 822-4267, or by e-mail. As always, the Stewardship Committee invites your questions, comments, suggestions and/or participation. Please feel free to e-mail Bill Caldwell, Stewardship Committee Leader, or call the church office. ______________________________________ |
Planned Giving - Remembering the Church in your will
In the Episcopal Church we believe that your estate plan should reflect your values. Planned giving encompasses a variety of ways to create a gift to your church using accumulated resources. Although planned giving usually involves financial or estate planning, it is not reserved for the wealthy. Planned giving is for anyone concerned with the wise use of his or her personal resources and provides the opportunity to make a considered choice about their ultimate disposition.
The Planned Giving Office helps individuals choose a gift plan. We also help individual donors in their estate plans and in creating life-income gift plans where appropriate. Our reciprocal gifts return benefits to you that can reduce taxes, increase retirement income and address your family's financial obligations, while they assist the ministry that has been meaningful to you during your lifetime.
To learn more about Planned Giving along with forms and the many resources available, visit the diocesan website HERE.

A letter of thanks from Carrie Sagucio
Dear All Saint's Family,
Words can not express the gratitude and thanks I feel for all your hard work. Once again, my church family has come to my aid. The Rummage Sale was such a success. I was so excited with all the activity going on and I really could feel God's presence there. I am so sorry this Thank You note took so long. I hit the energy wall at the end for the sale. I tried to keep going but my Lupus did flare and I went in to see the doctor on Wednesday. I am still not feeling strong and get tried so fast. The boys have been real troopers and doing all the work.
I am also sorry I am sending this thru e-mail but my handwriting is so terrible that you would not be able to understand how much my church family means to me. I love my church family and can't imagine life without all of you. Again, thank you, thank you and thank you.
Mahalo Ke Akua, Carrie

Church Work Day Turnout
This past Saturday, September 21, was the monthly Church work day, and members showed up ready to leap tall buildings! Pictured at left are David Crocker scaling the ladder to repair a leak in the gym roof, while David Murray makes sure he doesn't go flying! Members did a long list of jobs around the Church that included cleaning windows, sprucing up the Peace Garden, organizing and cleaning the gym kitchen and much more! Many thanks to everyone that showed up to help keep the church and property in shipshape! And did you know? Fr. Ryan does all sorts of tinkering and repairing around the property during his downtime? Yup-- new motion lights, detectors, wireless connections, you name it--- he does it all! Thank you Fr. Ryan! We are truly blessed to have such dedicated members and leaders in our midst!
Pictured above, Nora Takenouchi, Bill Brown, David Murray, Dr. Erin (on the ladder) Fr. Ryan and Bob Terao; Chris Wataya shining up the Church windows; our indispensible handyman John Hanaoka, reparing the Church doors; Lee Gusman continuing with his labor of love, painting the beams; Bill Brown pruning the plumeria tree in the Peace Garden... Mahalo everyone!!! (Photos by Marge Akana)

ECW Care Packages to our College Students

They will be putting together the packages at their next meeting in October. Be sure to submit the names of your loved one to a member of the ECW by October 15, so they will receive a package and know that their church 'ohana is thinking of them. We are actively seeking a few dedicated volunteers to help oversee and coordinate this community event. If you are interested in becoming a part of this new program, please see David Murray or call him at 651-2001. A meeting will be scheduled in the very near future.

Proper 21
O God, you declare your almighty power chiefly in showing mercy and pity: Grant us the fullness of your grace, that we, running to obtain your promises, may become partakers of your heavenly treasure; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
