OCU ILWU Contract Pending Ratification

As reported in December 5, 2012 Journal of Commerce (JOC) - Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has announced the end of the eight day OCU ILWU labor strike, with the help of federal mediators. The Office Clerical Unit of ILWU Local 63 has agreed to a six-year contract. Details of the contract are not confirmed as a vote by members is still pending. The new contract, once ratified, will expire on June 30, 2016 as the previous contract expired on June 30, 2010. Port officials estimate it could take weeks for the ports to return to normal.
