West Coast Strike - Update 3
Liberty International continues to work with our vendor partners to provide our clients with updates on the OCU / ILWU labor action on the West Coast.
Negotiations that continued through the weekend have not shown positive progress. Despite the continued difficulties, political involvement is not expected at this time. For cargo routing into the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles, an additional 2 days can be added to delays already reported. OCU employees remain unified in their efforts. Talks between both parties were scheduled to resume today at 10:00am PST.
The strike that began November 27, 2012 at the APM Terminal in Los Angeles has continued to spread to nine other facilities in the harbor as negotiations are still underway as of 4pm EST today. As the strike enters its second week, we still have no word as to when the dockworkers will return to work.
Carriers continue to review vessel schedules and discuss options to reroute cargo or slow steam vessels at sea to delay their arrival into these West Coast ports, hoping for a resolution.
Liberty will continue to provide you with updates as more information becomes available. |
