APM Terminal - ILWU OCU Work Stoppage

APM TerminalAs reported in The American Shipper, the clerical workers at the APM Terminal in Los Angeles stopped working on Tuesday, November 27. An official notice posted on the APM Terminal site advises that a local arbitrator ruled the pickets were "non bona fide" and ordered the ILWU workers to return to work, however the ILWU are not adhering to this ruling. At this time, the APM Terminal 400 is not expected to open this morning, Wednesday, November 28. The clerical workers from ILWU Union Local 63 have been working without a contract since June of 2010 and talks deteriorated recently as workers claimed management was outsourcing union jobs.

Shipping lines that are served by this terminal are: Maersk, Horizon, Hapag Lloyd, OOCL, SAF Marine, NYK, MSC, CMA/CGM and US Lines.

Liberty will be monitoring this matter closely and will notify clients directly should a delay in cargo routing be anticipated. If you have any questions regarding a specific shipment, please contact your Liberty account representative.
