Hurricane Sandy Aftermath Follow-up For 10/31/2012

JFK International Airport has reopened, but with limited service. As shipments become available for pick up, Liberty will be working closely with our partners to expedite to destination warehouse facilities.

 

CSX & Norfolk Southern Rail service continues to be closed until further notice.

 

The Port of NY/NJ remains closed until further notice. Preliminary results of the inspection for damage as a result of Hurricane Sandy the current status is as follows:

 

  • The Port is currently without electrical power.
  • The Channels are closed until further notice.
  • Roads to and from the Port are littered with debris and traffic signals are out of service.
  • The Rail Tracks have been damaged, the extent of which is being investigated.
  • Fence Lines are in widespread disrepair

 

Port Authority staff is currently in the process of clearing roads and are actively communicating with container terminal operators to organize this clean up and get Port services up and running as quickly as possible.  

 

Our warehouse partners remain closed while power is still out and roads are blocked by debris and flooding.
