ILA & USMX Continue Contract Negotiations

The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service reported that the ILA and the USMX met to discuss "a number of major issues" during two days of contract negotiations this week.

The two sides will now go back to meet with their own representatives in an effort to resolve those outstanding issues.

The FMCS commended the ILA and USMX for their hard work and their commitment to the negotiation process, but would not comment further on the status of the discussions.

Both parties agreed last month to extend their existing contract by 90 days to avoid a coast-wide strike during the holiday peak season.
