Welcome...

Happy June! The summer season is upon us once again, reminding us of how fortunate we are to call the Central Coast home.

It was with glorious weather that our Angels' community came together on May 18 to observe National Foster Care Awareness month and honor Angels' families who are positively impacting the lives of precious little ones every day.

With over 120 people in attendance, Angels' families and friends, our picnic area at Stow Grove Park sparkled with the energy (until the kids conked out), enthusiasm (it is contagious; we were able to welcome some guests interested in finding out more about Angels), and good will (from our caring families to the generous Kiwanis of the South County BBQ team)!

As I gazed out at one point during the festivities, I was struck by the enormous amount of joy and well being that surrounded our gathering.

The enormity of what the Angels community does and is able to do is incredible and inspiring. How wonderful it is to share with so many amazing people the vision of providing every child with a secure, loving and compassionate family!

In gratitude,

Jennifer L. Mills, MSW, LCSW

Tackling Tough Adoption Talks Webinar

Tuesday, July 8 at 5pm (PST)

Are you an adoptive Angels parent seeking information about how to speak with your child about their adoption? If so, you may want to join this live webinar hosted by Adoption Learning Partners.

You know talking about adoption is important -- but sometimes life isn't that agreeable. A complicated story, a lack of facts or information that's hard to share with your child can make talking about adoption really tough.

Join Jayne Schooler as she discusses how to tackle tough talks when:

  • Kids don't want to talk
  • Siblings have different stories and different amounts of information
  • You don't have enough information to answer questions
  • You have biological kids AND adopted kids

Their expert will be joined by Carmen Knight, an adult adopted person. Carmen will give real life example of how her parents incorporated adoption into her life - even when it wasn't an easy task. Cost: $15. Register here.
