Greetings!,
2013 has certainly flown by! And what a busy year it has been here at Angels Foster Care of Santa Barbara. Some highlights:
- We successfully completed our transition to a treatment Foster Family Agency and rejoiced that the long process with the mass of accompanying paperwork was done.
-
Betsy Nickels joined us in January, providing primary support to families in southern Santa Barbara County and Stacy Peterson returned from maternity leave in May to take on a new role at Angels as Lead Social Worker, focusing on intake and pre-certification training. - We have so far welcomed 8 new families to Angels this year (hoping for a few more before the end of the year!).
- We embraced 21 new little Angels, who joined 26 sweet ones already benefiting from an Angels home.
- We said goodbye to 14 Angels, who either reunified with a parent or transitioned to a permanent placement with a relative or non-Angels adoptive home.
- And, we celebrated 18 adoptions by Angels' families, the highest number in one year ever in our history, bringing the total number of adoptions by Angels' families to 67!
We are full of wonder about what 2014 may bring and will with your support and assistance continue to promote the well being of the youngest members of our community through loving and consistent care.
May the spirit of the holidays embrace you and yours.
Sincerely,
Jennifer L. Mills, MSW, LCSW

Last Words...
"The best things in life are nearest: Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life's plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life."
-- Robert Louis Stevenson
